Today was a big day.
We took part in the
“Wigwam Runner bean planting ceremony”.
The children have been busy planting runner beans as seeds at preschool and today we planted them in the Streamside garden.
Lots of thanks goes to Mr Netherway for organising and constructing the wigwam and looking after our runner beans and Mr Bowers for coming to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
We had a really special day even though the rain fell it didn’t stop us.
We hope all of your little ones have lots of memories to tell you from today and we also let our butterflies free which we have been looking after from tiny caterpillars. We found a dry shelter to let them fly free.
We wished them lots of ❤️ as they flew away and hoped they would be happy. Xx

What a fascinating morning we had exploring the Nectar gardens at Quince Honey Farm. We learnt so much about bees and other insects. All the different flowers that bees like and the places they live. We really enjoyed tasting the honey too. Thank you for having us.

Continuing our healthy eating theme. Yesterday we had a busy morning making some healthy banana flapjacks. We mashed the bananas mixed in some oats and honey and then baked it in the oven.

What a great time we had exploring St Johns Garden Centre
We explored the different plants and flowers using all our senses and talking about what they smelt like and felt like. Some plants were even bigger than us. We enjoyed playing in the new play park and trying out the tents.

Our story this week is the Hungry Caterpillar.
We have been talking about healthy eating and looked at different fruits he ate.
We also made fruit smoothie for snack.
Had a walk in the rain and visited the Coffee Morning upstairs above preschool to sing songs and enjoy listening to their guest playing his banjo and have a cuddle with Rusty the dog .

🎉 42 Years of Our Pre-School 🎉

This month we are celebrating an incredible milestone, 42 years of being part of this community 💛

For over four decades, we’ve had the privilege of caring for generations of children, supporting them to grow into confident, happy and capable individuals. Some of the parents we welcome today once came through our doors themselves and that means everything to us.

But we also want to be honest…

Small settings like ours can only continue with the support of families and the local community. Every child, every recommendation and every share really does help keep us going.

If you’re thinking about a place for your child, we’d love you to be part of our next chapter.

👉Join us or secure your place.

We welcome children from 2 years old. If you’re looking for a nurturing, small setting where your child is truly known and supported, please get in touch to join our waiting list. This helps us plan ahead and ensures we can keep our staffing and provision strong for your child’s start.

⭐Help us continue our story
⭐Help us be here for future generations

Alternatively:

👉Make a donation.
As a small not-for-profit pre-school, we rely on our community to continue. If you’re able to, please consider donating to help us remain a valued part of the village for future generations.

In a world where so many small settings have disappeared or been absorbed into larger businesses, we are incredibly proud to still be here as an independent, small, community-focused, not-for-profit pre-school.

Our size is our strength. It means children are truly known, relationships matter, families feel supported, and money goes back into the setting and experiences for the children, not into profits. We know how special and increasingly rare that is.

We love that we still see the children we once taught out and about in the village as they grow up, something so special that only a truly local pre-school can offer. Many of our staff have also been part of the setting for years, creating the kind of consistency, care and warmth that helps children flourish.

From learning and exploring in the community garden to enjoying a more natural childhood with open-ended play and fewer plastic toys, we aim to give children a calm, nurturing environment where they can simply be children

💛 Thank you to every family who has supported us over the years
💛 Thank you to our wonderful community for helping us reach 42 years

❤️ We’d love to hear from past and present families.
What are your favourite memories of pre-school?
Please share them in the comments 🥰

Here’s to 42 years… and, with your support, many more to come. 😊
