Let’s take a little wander through the roses at Barrington Court 🌹✨

With so many varieties growing in different corners of the garden, each one has its own way of blooming – from the sun soaked roses climbing the warm south facing walls of the bus stalls, to the arching beauties overhead, to the calm elegance of the rose and iris garden.

Because they all grow at their own pace, there’s always something new to spot whenever you visit 🌿💛

These were filmed just last week… and we’ll be back in a month or so to see how they’re getting on.
Come see what’s blooming next time you’re here 🌸

🌿 If you love bearded irises – these big, frilly beauties – here are some tips from our garden team. Many bearded irises are wonderfully scented, so plant them somewhere you can pause and take a deep breath to enjoy them fully 💛
Choose a sunny spot with free draining soil, and make sure the rhizomes sit on top of the soil. They like to be baked by the sun to give you reliable flowers the following year ☀️
A little care goes a long way:
• Deadhead to stop the plant putting energy into seed.
• Divide every 3–4 years to prevent congestion.
• Remove any rotten rhizomes, and if you end up with more than you need… share the joy with friends 😊
You can see beautiful Bearded Irises in bloom here at Barrington Court, so keep an eye out on your next visit! 🌸

If you saw Head Gardener Sarah on ITV News West Country last night, you’ll have caught a glimpse of our white wisteria - a softer, slightly less common counterpart to the familiar purple blooms. It drapes beautifully through the White Garden, where every plant contributes to a calm, monochrome palette. Why not come along and enjoy it in person?
