This evening we hosted a sand hole collapse simulation exercise At whitmore bay Barry island
Invited our rescue partners
Barry Dock RNLI,RNLI Lifeguards South East Wales,Vale SLSC
Exercise included location techniques ,casualty extraction and casualty care .
Vital this part of our training is practiced and to involve the use of other agencies to get to a person as fast and efficiently as possible .

Our usual practice evening this Tuesday
Bit different
we had the pleasure of welcoming Kev from the Coastguard Association

The Coastguard Association is the charity dedicated to supporting Coastguard personnel and their families in their time of need.

To celebrate the Association's 50th Anniversary, Kev is travelling around the UK in a campervan, kindly sponsored by Escape Campers, visiting all HM Coastguard Rescue Areas. The tour aims to raise awareness of the Coastguard Association, meet Coastguard Rescue Team members, and highlight the invaluable support the charity provides to the Coastguard community.

During his visit, our team had the opportunity to sign the Association's anniversary flag, leaving our mark alongside Coastguard colleagues from across the UK as Kev continues his journey.

It was a pleasure to welcome Kev to our station, hear more about the Association's work, and wish him every success for the rest of his journey.

🚨Weekend update 🚨

Our team of coastguard rescue officers
Had eventful weekend as coastguard officers around the coast !
Dealing with multiple call outs involving inflatables and paddle boarding
All resulted in positive outcomes thanks to the quick thinking of the general public and support by our SAR colleagues Barry Dock RNLIRNLI Lifeguards South East Wales
Team also participated in local patrols over weekend and also helped in coastal safety giving advice to general public.
We also participated in a sea farers Sunday memorial service.
Officers joined other services, in remembering those who were lost at sea .
And as the service finished.. pager’s sounded for both CG and RNLI straight back to it !

We all enjoy a trip to the sea side and to use the water for pleasure and good way of keeping fit.

Try to reduce the risk ☀️

Carry a means of calling for help you can reach easily in an emergency, for example a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) or a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch.

Check the weather forecast and tide times before you leave home.

Wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and wear bright, suitable clothing so that you can be spotted easily.

Label your equipment with your contact details, if it's lost we can check that you are safe.
