TACTICAL VOTING NWHants. I have been asked about tactical voting locally. My own preference is for a fair system of proportional representation rather than a first past the post which disenfranchises many voters. But we are where we are. Looking at the upcoming General Election I prefer to base any advice on actual election results rather than predicted numbers which are taken from national averages.
The facts for North West Hampshire are: in 2019 the Liberal Democrats came second. Across the constituency the latest local election results had Conservatives about 40%, Liberal Democrats about 30%, and none of the other parties hit the 10% level. Since 2019 the Liberal Democrats gained 9 borough councillors with Labour still stuck at 0. Labour itself has described North West Hampshire as a non-battleground seat.
Each party will put forward its own spin on polling data, but it is up to voters to make their mind up based on the facts.
