❗️Please act responsibly and look after our local greenspaces❗️
Fire services across the south of England have warned that "a few days of hot weather have "greatly increased" the risk of wildfires as the country experiences its third heatwave of 2026" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgl3jx4nz96o
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service advise:
Leave barbecues at home – pack a picnic instead
MAKE SURE ci******es are out and dispose of them properly
Sunlight shining through glass can start a fire so take your litter
home or make sure bottles and other rubbish goes in the bin.
DON’T start campfires in the countryside.
For full guidance please see https://www.hantsfire.gov.uk/safety/safety-outdoors-wildfires/

We’re committed to keeping our communities safe, well and informed and our prevention and protection work plays a large role in this.

📢 Could Sherfield Park Benefit from relaunching its Neighbourhood Watch Scheme?

Following recent incidents of anti-social behaviour within the parish, Sherfield Park Parish Council is exploring whether there is sufficient interest in relaunching a local Neighbourhood Watch group.

Neighbourhood Watch is a community-led scheme that helps residents work together to improve safety, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and strengthen community spirit. It provides a way for neighbours to share information, look out for one another, and maintain regular communication with local authorities when issues arise.

For a scheme to be successful, we would need volunteers to take on the role of:
• An overall Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for Sherfield Park
• Street Coordinators for individual roads and areas across the parish

If there is enough interest from residents, the Parish Council will facilitate an initial meeting to discuss how a Sherfield Park Neighbourhood Watch scheme could be established and supported.

If you would be interested in becoming involved, either as a coordinator or as a member of the scheme, please let us know in the comments.

Together, we can help keep Sherfield Park a safe and welcoming place to live.

🌸🏆 Sherfield Park Parish in Bloom – Judging Day is 29th June! 🏆🌸

We’re proud to have achieved Gold in last year’s Parish in Bloom competition, and this year we’d love to retain our Gold award – or even go one better and become a regional winner!

The judges will be visiting Sherfield Park on 29th June and will be looking at a range of factors, including:

🌿 Quality and maintenance of planting and green spaces
🦋 Wildlife and biodiversity projects
♻️ Environmental sustainability
🤝 Community involvement, including volunteers, schools and local groups
🌼 Overall appearance and pride in our parish

You can help make a real difference by spending a little time tidying up your front gardens, maintaining hedges and borders, removing weeds, and generally sprucing up the areas around your property.

Every contribution, no matter how small, helps showcase the pride we take in our community and makes Sherfield Park an even more attractive place to live.

Thank you for your support, and let’s work together to help Sherfield Park shine on judging day! 🌺🌳🌞

One of our councillors has been with us since the inception of the council here’s what she has to say :

Today marks 10 years since I became a Parish Councillor, and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. It has been a rewarding experience and a real privilege to serve our local community.

Being a parish councillor gives you the opportunity to make a genuine difference, and it’s not party political, – whether that’s helping provide practical improvements like rubbish bins and bus shelters, commenting on planning proposals, supporting local groups, or getting involved in decisions that help shape and improve the place we all live.

Now we’re looking for new councillors to join us. If you care about our community and want to play a part in making it even better for everyone, I’d really encourage you to consider getting involved. You don’t need to be an expert – just someone with enthusiasm, ideas, and a desire to help.

If you'd like to find out more, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
