📍 Welcome to the Baverstock Arms, named after Alton-born James Baverstock, a brewer and inventor who was reputedly the first person to make use of a hydrometer in the brewing process.

Grab a pint, soft drink or some crisps and nuts and enjoy our cosy and traditional pub during your visit to the museum.

🎹 Been practising on the keys? All are welcome to play on our pub piano - singalongs encouraged!

This Saturday 27 June, join us for Armed Forces Day. 📆

We'll be hosting a day full of immersive activities in celebration of Armed Forces Day at our Basingstoke Museum.

🗺️ RAF War Room experience
Step into a detailed operational setting where key wartime battles are planned on a model inspired by the bunker used by Winston Churchill.

🎵 Talk: The Life and Music of Glenn Miller
Delivered by volunteer Ray, learn the story and musical legacy of one of the era’s most iconic bandleaders.

👗 1940s Fashion Display
Developed by Dr Alex Walker covering both workwear and leisure styles of the 1940s.

🕛 Midday gathering on the field
A special gathering including Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA), Royal British Legion (RBL), and Basingstoke Veterans Club.

🎺 Basingstoke Silver Band
Enjoy performances from Basingstoke Silver Band, featuring a selection of popular and patriotic music.

💼 WWI History & Family Research Table
Meet David Whithorn, who will be dressed in First World War uniform and displaying a range of military artefacts and offering guidance on tracing military family history.

🍭Treat your dad to a special Father’s Day at Milestones Museum!

Fathers and Grandfathers visiting during the weekend of 20/21 June will be gifted a ration card which can be exchanged for 2oz of sweets in our 1940s sweet shop 🍬

Also in our living history museum that celebrates Hampshire, we have a fantastic vintage pub, seaside pier with games, vintage vehicles, and a café overlooking the museum. Bring all the family for a fantastic Father’s Day adventure.

Shown in this video is an original 1898 cylinder disc player, that came from the factory of Thomas Edison, and Volunteer Ray is sharing his wonderful knowledge!

💡Did you know - that when you visit, our fantastic volunteers are situated across the museum and have lots of brilliant stories and facts. Make sure you stop by for a chat!
