🚨 Bin collections in hot weather 🚨

A Met Office Red Warning for extreme heat comes into effect from later today.

Our waste and recycling crews will continue working as usual over the next few days. Collections will start promptly at 6am so put your bin out the night before your collection to make sure it is out in time.

Emptying bins is a physically demanding job and we’re keen to protect our crews by helping them to carry out this essential service earlier, if possible, during the cooler part of the day. Thank you.

We’ve reopened our Community Infrastructure Fund to help local community groups and voluntary organisations improve their facilities.

It’s the fourth year the scheme has run, giving organisations the opportunity to apply for grants of between £5,000 and £75,000 through a two-stage process. The fund supports projects that deliver additional community facilities or make existing facilities more accessible, user-friendly or financially sustainable - like Kings Café in South Ham (pictured), which successfully applied for a grant to install a new shelter and extractor fan.

While football doesn’t cause domestic abuse, it can become more severe or frequent during major tournaments.

Don’t forget to use your food waste caddy for any leftovers and plate scrapings, even things like chicken bones, corn cores, leftovers and burnt bits.

It’s not rubbish. All of these things can be turned into greener energy and fertiliser.
