1st Basingstoke Scout Group are incredibly proud of one of our Cub Young Leaders, Jess, who took to the stage at Beastly and absolutely entertained the crowds with an amazing singing set! 🎤🎶

From fun musical favourites to well known hits, Jess had the young people singing along, smiling and enjoying every moment. It takes real confidence to stand up in front of so many people and perform, and she did brilliantly.

Well done Jess, you were fantastic and we’re all so proud of you! 👏🌟

A huge appreciation post to 1st Basingstoke Cub Team Member Anthony Weatherhead for taking to the Creative Stage yesterday and delivering a reading from The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett.

It was brilliant to see a different side to one of our leaders and a reminder to all our young people that it’s okay to be creative, try something new, and put yourself out there.

Thank you Tony for entertaining the crowds, representing 1st Basingstoke, and showing that Scouting is full of hidden talents as well as adventure! 👏📚

One of the things that makes Beastly so special for our older sections is the freedom it gives them to explore. 🌟

At Beastly26, Cubs, Scouts, Guides and Rangers were able to roam around the secure event site with their friends, choosing the activities they wanted to take part in rather than staying with their section all day. From adventurous activities to games and challenges, it gave them the chance to make their own day unforgettable. 🐾

It does mean we don’t always manage to get as many photos, as they are off having fun all over the site! But thanks to our leaders keeping an eye out, we did manage to capture a few of our 1st Basingstoke Cubs in action enjoying everything Beastly had to offer. 📸

A huge thank you to our fantastic flag bearers for proudly representing 1st Basingstoke Scout Group at the Beastly26 flag parade and promise renewal yesterday.

They carried our flag brilliantly in front of thousands of Scouts and Guides from across the district and did the group proud. Thank you for stepping up, showing such confidence and representing 1st Basingstoke with pride. 👏🏕️🚩

What an incredible day yesterday at Beastly at Dummer Down Farm! 🌟

Now in its 5th year, Beastly just keeps getting bigger and better every time. This year, nearly 3,000 Scouts and Girl Guides from Basingstoke and the surrounding areas came together for a fantastic day packed with activities, adventure, fun and the annual Promise Renewal. 💛

1st Basingstoke Scout Group were proud to be part of it all and had an absolutely brilliant time. Here are some of our Squirrels and Beavers enjoying their day and making memories with friends old and new.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such an amazing event, we can’t wait for next year already!

Every so often we’re visited by our District friends, and this week it was Keith Douglas, who supports volunteer recruitment for Basingstoke East Scouts.

Keith is a familiar face across our groups, regularly checking in with volunteers to make sure they feel happy, valued and supported. He’s always ready to get stuck in, and this week was no exception. He especially enjoyed getting involved in our police visit!

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering with Scouts, whether working directly with young people or helping behind the scenes, Keith is the person to chat to. He’d love to help you find the right role.

🚓1st Basingstoke Squirrels and Beavers have had a fantastic and very exciting visit this evening from our local Police Community Support Officers from Basingstoke Cops.

The young people had the chance to explore the police van sitting in both the front and the back which was definitely a highlight! They also got to try on parts of the uniform, which brought lots of smiles and laughter.

Most importantly, they learned all about how the police are here to help us, keep us safe, and support our community. It was a great opportunity for everyone to ask questions and build confidence around people who are there to protect them.

A big thank you to our visiting officers PC Ralph Frostick and PC Jess for taking the time to make it such a fun and informative session we really appreciate it.

🙌🏻 We’re excited to share that 1st Basingstoke Scout Group has been selected for the Tesco Stronger Starts programme with our project “Keep Us Camping” 🏕️

From 28th April to the end of July 2026, you can help us win vital funding to buy new tents for our young people.

⛺ Why it matters�We have over 100 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts (ages 4–14) who love camping and we’d love to hold a group camp for all sections to attend by purchasing more tents and equipment to do this altogether. This funding will help us give young people safe, memorable outdoor experiences.

🗳️ How to vote
* Shop in Tesco (any purchase counts!)
* You’ll receive a blue token at the till
* Pop it into the box for 1st Basingstoke Scout Group.

This week 1st Basingstoke beavers have been busy, and not just building dams! They’ve started creating their very own bug hotels using old milk bottles and natural materials they collected 🥛✨

Twigs, leaves, moss, bark… all carefully packed inside to make cosy little homes for insects 🐞🐝

A lovely reminder that one creature’s “rubbish” can become another’s home 🌍

Next time you see an empty milk bottle… maybe think twice before throwing it away 😉
