Den building is always one of the most exciting and creative activities for 1st Basingstoke Scout Group. And we’re really lucky to be surrounded by some fantastic places to do it.

Being so close to great outdoor spaces gives the young people the chance to get stuck in, work together, and use their imagination to turn sticks, leaves, and whatever they can find into brilliant dens. There’s something really special about watching them problem solve, share ideas, and take real pride in what they’ve built.

Crabtree is definitely a firm favourite for us. It’s the perfect spot for exploring, building, and letting their creativity run wild, and it never disappoints. The excitement when they find the “perfect” den-building location is always brilliant to see.

It’s simple adventures like these that make Scouting so memorable — fresh air, teamwork, and a lot of muddy fun! 🌿🪵

Last weekend’s District Beaver Camp was absolutely superb. The Beavers threw themselves into every activity with so much energy, enthusiasm, and smiles from start to finish. It was brilliant to see them trying new things, supporting each other, and really getting stuck into the whole camp experience.

As always, the highlight had to be the songs around the campfire. There’s something really special about that moment when the day winds down, everyone gathers together, and the singing starts. The Beavers loved it, and it created such a great sense of togetherness and fun that will be remembered long after the tents were packed away.

A huge thank you to all the leaders and helpers who made the camp run so smoothly, and to the young people for making it such a fantastic weekend. Already looking forward to the next one! 🔥🎶

One of the highlights of our AGM is the opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements of our young people.

Last night, we were delighted to present several of Scouting’s highest awards, recognising the dedication, commitment and personal growth shown by our members throughout the year.

Congratulations to those who achieved their Chief Acorn Award, Chief Scout’s Bronze Award and Chief Scout’s Silver Award. These awards represent hard work, perseverance and a willingness to embrace new challenges, and every recipient should be immensely proud of what they have accomplished.

A huge well done to all our award recipients, and thank you to our volunteers, leaders and families who support our young people on their Scouting journey. We look forward to seeing what they achieve next!

A huge thank you to all of our young people, parents/carers, volunteers, and District representatives who joined us for our 1st Basingstoke AGM this evening.

Our AGM (annual general meeting) is an important opportunity to reflect on everything we’ve achieved over the past year, celebrate the dedication of our volunteers and young people, and share our plans and ambitions for the future. It was fantastic to see so many people there supporting the Group and helping shape the year ahead.

With the rain hammering down this morning, we were especially grateful that we had decided to move the event indoors rather than hold our usual park picnic!

We’re incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished together and are excited for another year of adventure, skills, friendship, and opportunities for our young people. Thank you for being part of our Scouting family, we can’t wait to see what the coming year brings.

1st Basingstoke Scout Group are incredibly proud of one of our Cub Young Leaders, Jess, who took to the stage at Beastly and absolutely entertained the crowds with an amazing singing set! 🎤🎶

From fun musical favourites to well known hits, Jess had the young people singing along, smiling and enjoying every moment. It takes real confidence to stand up in front of so many people and perform, and she did brilliantly.

Well done Jess, you were fantastic and we’re all so proud of you! 👏🌟

A huge appreciation post to 1st Basingstoke Cub Team Member Anthony Weatherhead for taking to the Creative Stage yesterday and delivering a reading from The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett.

It was brilliant to see a different side to one of our leaders and a reminder to all our young people that it’s okay to be creative, try something new, and put yourself out there.

Thank you Tony for entertaining the crowds, representing 1st Basingstoke, and showing that Scouting is full of hidden talents as well as adventure! 👏📚

One of the things that makes Beastly so special for our older sections is the freedom it gives them to explore. 🌟

At Beastly26, Cubs, Scouts, Guides and Rangers were able to roam around the secure event site with their friends, choosing the activities they wanted to take part in rather than staying with their section all day. From adventurous activities to games and challenges, it gave them the chance to make their own day unforgettable. 🐾

It does mean we don’t always manage to get as many photos, as they are off having fun all over the site! But thanks to our leaders keeping an eye out, we did manage to capture a few of our 1st Basingstoke Cubs in action enjoying everything Beastly had to offer. 📸

A huge thank you to our fantastic flag bearers for proudly representing 1st Basingstoke Scout Group at the Beastly26 flag parade and promise renewal yesterday.

They carried our flag brilliantly in front of thousands of Scouts and Guides from across the district and did the group proud. Thank you for stepping up, showing such confidence and representing 1st Basingstoke with pride. 👏🏕️🚩
