🤸☀️This evening, all sections of 1st Basingstoke Scout Group, from our Squirrels right through to our Scouts, enjoyed a brilliantly chaotic, energetic and exhausting trip to Flip Out! There were smiles, laughter and endless bouncing from start to finish, and it’s safe to say everyone had an amazing time.

Of course, the leaders couldn’t resist joining in too and wasted no time getting stuck into the fun alongside the young people!

A huge thank you to every volunteer who helped make tonight possible, and to all of the incredible volunteers who have given their time and energy throughout the year. We truly couldn’t do it without your dedication and support.

And with that, we’re signing out for the summer! 🌞

Have a fantastic holiday, and we’ll see you all in September, ready for another year of adventure!

☀️ What a beautiful day for our 1st Basingstoke Sponsored Family Walk! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🐶

It was fantastic to see families from every section of 1st Basingstoke Scouts coming together today. With a choice of two routes, there was something for everyone:

🥾 Long Route: 8.5km (5.2 miles) – approximately 2 hours 15 minutes
🥾 Short Route: 4.5km (2.7 miles) – approximately 1 hour 15 minutes

Mums, dads, siblings and even dogs joined us, making it a wonderful community event full of smiles, fresh air and great company.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and collected sponsorship. Together you’ve raised a fantastic £250 for 1st Basingstoke Scouts! This money will help us purchase new tents for our group camp, giving even more young people the chance to enjoy amazing outdoor adventures.

A big thank you also goes to all of our leaders who gave up their time to support the event, and a very special thank you to Adam Sayer
for organising such a successful day.

We had so much fun that we’re already hoping to make this an annual event… so watch this space for next year! 💚⚜️

📸 At 1st Basingstoke Scout Group, the safety and wellbeing of our young people is always our highest priority.

Following a recent review by our Trustee Board, we have made the decision to change the way we share photos on our public platforms.

From now on, we will no longer publish images that clearly show the faces of young people on our public social media channels or newsletters. Instead, we’ll continue to share all the amazing adventures taking place across the group through photos that focus on activities, achievements and experiences while protecting the identities of our young people.

This decision reflects the rapidly changing digital world, including advances in AI technology, and also aligns with the approach many schools are now taking to help safeguard children online.

Please don’t worry, we’ll still be capturing and celebrating everything our young people get up to! Parents and carers will continue to receive photos through our private section communication channels, so you’ll still be able to see the fun, learning and adventures taking place each week. To help us ensure we can still do this we do ask that Young People’s records are updated on OSM with photo permissions.

We know many families have joined us after seeing our social media posts, so we’d love your continued support. If you know a young person who would enjoy trying Scouts, especially Squirrels (ages 4–6), please help spread the word.

Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to support 1st Basingstoke Scout Group as we adapt to an ever-changing digital world while keeping young people at the heart of everything we do. 💚

🏕️ 1st Basingstoke Beavers got stuck into one of the most important Scouting skills this week by learning how to pitch a tent! ⛺

Working together, they discovered how to lay out the tent, put the poles together, and make sure everything was secure. There was plenty of teamwork, problem solving and communication as everyone played their part in getting camp
ready.

By the end of the session, Beavers were proudly sitting inside the tents they had helped to pitch, a fantastic achievement and great preparation for future camps and adventures!

Well done, Beavers! We can’t wait to see these new camping skills put into practice on our next outdoor adventure. 🌿🏕️💙

🐝 1st Basingstoke Squirrels had a buzzing good time at last week’s meeting! 🐝

We were delighted to welcome a local beekeeper, who taught everyone all about the fascinating world of bees and why they are so important for our environment. The Squirrels loved learning how bees make honey, how they work together in the hive, and the vital role they play in pollinating plants.

The highlight for many was getting to taste some delicious local honey 🍯 before having a go at making their own beautiful beeswax candles. 🕯️

A huge thank you to our wonderful beekeeper for sharing their knowledge and giving our Squirrels such a fun, hands-on experience. It was a fantastic evening full of learning, creativity and plenty of smiles!

What a fantastic weekend at 1st Basingstoke Scout Troop Camp over the weekend🌞🏕️

Despite the soaring temperatures, our Scouts showed incredible resilience, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the weekend. They took on a whole host of exciting activities including high ropes, laser tag, the gladiator challenge, nightline and pedal karts, pushing themselves, encouraging one another and having an amazing time.

When they weren’t tackling the activities, there was plenty of fun around camp too, with games of UNO No Mercy, epic rounds of Manhunt, and lots of laughter shared with friends.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteer leaders for giving up their weekend to make it all possible, and well done to every Scout for embracing every challenge, looking after each other and making memories that will last a lifetime.

Den building is always a firm favourite, and it’s an activity that every section loves as it’s perfect for all ages! 🌿⛺

This week it was 1st Basingstoke Scouts’ turn to show off their teamwork, creativity and pioneering skills as they built some fantastic dens in the woods.

With the hot weather on Monday, the shade of the trees made it the perfect place to spend the evening while creating shelters and enjoying the outdoors.🌳👏

1st Basingstoke Squirrels put on their scientist hats this week and got stuck into some exciting experiments! 🧪🔬

It’s fantastic to see our youngest members learning through hands-on activities, asking questions, and discovering just how much fun science can be! 🌟

We have spaces available for a start in September for any 4-6 year olds. Please message us for more info.
