End of Term 5

It’s been a whirlwind of a term at Hayesfield, and we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and brilliant achievements we've seen across both campuses. Our Year 11 and Year 13 students have reached Half Term with the opportunity to breathe and go again in Term 6. They have performed brilliantly throughout the exam period and all the preparation and revision is really paying off. Today we had our last formal gathering of Year 13 for their Leavers' Assembly. It was a lovely celebration of their Hayesfield journey. we are looking forward to seeing our Year 11 and 13 at their Proms in a few weeks to mark the end of exams!

We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a very well-deserved break. Stay safe, rest up, and we’ll see you refreshed and ready for Term 5!

In partnership with Sport England, we are delighted to launch a major fundraising campaign to upgrade and improve our sports facilities. We need the help of our community to ensure our students get access to the best sports facilities.

Our first project is to raise £20,000 to resurface our netball courts. Sport England will match fund if we raise £10,000.

We have already received some incredibly generous donations, for which we are deeply grateful. However, we still need significant contributions to reach our target and unlock the matched funding.

If you know any companies or organisations who can help us achieve this total, please let us know. On Friday 1st May, Megan Lewis (ex Hayesfield Product Design student and architect), current GCSE and A Level Product Design students Grace,Ted, Luna, Florence, Olivia, Madeleine and Mrs Johnston, were invited to join the Design and Technology Association as it marked the launch of an initiative to reconnect schools with industries, appropriately set against the backdrop of the Concorde aircraft at Bristol Aerospace.

We are delighted to support such an important initiative designed to improve the quality of D&T education offered to young people. Both Mrs Johnston and Megan were asked to speak about the importance of D&T at the event. Find out more about the initiative here: https://www.designtechnology.org.uk/news/funded-school-industry-support-bristol-southwest/

In conjunction, the BBC visited Hayesfield to film a Year 8 D&T lesson alongside interviewing Mrs Wilson and some of our students. Mrs Wilson was then invited to talk live on BBC Radio Bristol's breakfast show at 7am on the 5th May, along with excerpts from our students. Below are the links to the Radio Interview (from 1.06) and the BBC News article.
