We’re proud to announce that The Roman Baths has become Bath’s first Museum of Sanctuary. 💙

Receiving this award during Refugee Week makes the recognition especially meaningful.

Presented by City of Sanctuary UK, the award recognises our work to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for refugees, people seeking asylum and other displaced people.

Since 2024, our Sanctuary Programme has brought people together through social events, creative workshops and family activities that help build connections and a sense of belonging.

During Refugee Week, visitors can also enjoy a special trail around the site featuring artwork by Quentin Blake from the Simple Acts campaign.

✨ Summer Lates are back at the Roman Baths ✨

DJs, drinks and ancient waters… summer nights just got a remix 💫

As the sun sets, the Roman Baths transforms into something a little different. From 20 July to 31 August, we’re staying open until 10pm, with Summer Lates bringing a relaxed, sociable atmosphere to this incredible historic space.

Think vinyl DJs spinning soulful, global sounds beside the Great Bath, live acoustic music drifting through the steam, and a drink in hand as you explore the site after hours 🍹🎶

It’s a chance to experience the Baths as they were meant to be—two thousand years ago, this was a place to meet, unwind and soak up the atmosphere. This summer, that spirit is back.

This Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating and thanking the fantastic volunteers who support Heritage Services across Bath.

Our volunteers play an important role across our museums and visitor attractions, helping to welcome visitors, share stories, support activities and bring Bath's rich heritage to life.

Their dedication, knowledge and enthusiasm help create memorable experiences for thousands of people every year.

One volunteer told us:

"It has given me more confidence, and I love meeting and talking to all the visitors."

Another said:

"It has encouraged me to value my surroundings and the place where we live as well as appreciating the weight of history."

We're incredibly grateful for everything our volunteers do and for the passion they bring to Heritage Services throughout the year.
