Now the dust has settled what are our immediate reflections on the local elections.
Of course we're disappointed not to have taken some seats but hugely heartened by the many of you who trusted us with your vote.
However we're a new group, and up against well-established and well-funded national parties. It's bound to take time to made an impact in that context, so the fact that we got so many votes in some seats is amazing.
We're definitely in this for the long haul, we passionately believe that party politics, at least at local level, is not a constructive model for creating the kind of collaborative, vibrant city and region we need. Nationally, independents did really well, and we're surrounded by positive examples here in Bradford, Wells, Minehead, Portishead and of course Frome, we think independence is the future of revived, municipal pride and positive change.
Of course, like all good citizens, we wish the Lib Dem council well, and we've had plenty of literature from them over the last few weeks to compare what they said they'd do and what they actually do...
