Look who’s keeping an eye on you whilst visiting Battle Abbey 👀
Across our site there’s a handful of secret grotesques striking a silly pose.
Not to be confused with gargoyles (that are carved specifically to drain water away from a building), these grotesques are mythical or exaggerated figures carved into walls of a building out of stone.

From the drama of 1066 to the peace of a ruined abbey, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy. Our Great British Summer event is running over the school holidays, with fairground games, circus skills and sports day! Now’s the perfect time to bring those little historians to explore.

With your Bayeaux Tapestry ticket, you can enjoy entry to Battle Abbey for just £10.66 for adults, and £5.33 for children.
