The draft minutes of the Planning Advisory, Highways & Resilience Committee meetings held on 4th August and 25th August 2026 have now been published on the Town Council's website.
We recognise that there has been considerable public interest in the Parnham restaurant application and, in the interests of transparency, would like to explain why the application was considered again at an Extraordinary Committee meeting on 25th August.
Following the meeting on 4th August, concerns were raised regarding the procedure followed in the consideration of the application and the potential risk of challenge.
At the start of the Extraordinary meeting on 25th August, and before any further consideration of the planning application took place, members were asked to decide whether the matter should be revisited. The Committee voted unanimously to re-examine the application.
The application was then considered afresh and, following discussion, the Committee resolved to support the application.
Both sets of draft minutes are now available on the Town Council's website.
For clarity, Beaminster Town Council is a consultee in the planning process and does not determine planning applications. The Town Council’s decision represents its consultation response only. The final decision on the application will be made by Dorset Council as the Local Planning Authority.
To ensure that any questions regarding this matter can be responded to appropriately, comments have been turned off on this post. If you have any questions, please contact the Town Council directly at [email protected]
The agenda for the next Planning Advisory, Highways & Resilience Committee meeting, taking place on Tuesday 1st September, has also been published and is available to view on our website:
