Iโ€™ve not posted for a while, as I have been at full capacity and happily busy with my clients ๐Ÿ˜
I am still here and do have some availability on occasion. Itโ€™s always worth asking as I am usually able to accommodate!

Also, behind the scenes I am doing some additional training, to help support my clients to the best of my ability. This includes an ADHD coaching certificate and additional training in neurodiversity, which means I can truly offer a person centred package of support to my clients.

I can help with
๐ŸŒŸ End of life care
๐ŸŒŸ personal care
๐ŸŒŸ medication support
๐ŸŒŸ Meal preparation
๐ŸŒŸ help to attend appointments
๐ŸŒŸ companion visits
๐ŸŒŸ light domestic duties, including helping you care for your garden.
๐ŸŒŸ Outings
๐ŸŒŸ night sits
๐ŸŒŸ shopping visits
๐ŸŒŸ help to care for pets

(ADHD coaching and support coming soon) ๐Ÿค—

I am trained to a level 6, with BSC Honours in Health and Social Welfare.
I have additional training in End of life care, Dementia awareness, manual handling, safe handling of medications and first aid and have previously worked as a Health Care Assistant and in a community care team. I have also worked on an Emergency Care Team and in complex care, so have a wide range of experience with different aspects of care and support needs.
Enhanced DBS on the update system and fully insured.

๐ŸŒŸ Iโ€™ve had a few clients ask me what happens if they need to cancel a visit for any reason or if I am ill or need to take any leave, so I thought Iโ€™d pin a post up to let people know ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ”น I know things happen and clients may need to cancel a visit, for various reasons including hospital stays or appointments. I completely understand this, but if less than 24 hours notice, I would need to charge full rate, as I wouldnโ€™t be able to fill that visit time at short notice. If 48 hours notice is given, half the support rate would be charged. If it is going to be a few visits and I have notice, a half price retaining fee would be chargeable to keep your support time open for you, which can be held for up to 2 weeks.

๐Ÿ”น I am 100% committed to my clients, but everyone comes down with a tummy bug or such at some point. I will always let clients know as soon as possible if I am unwell and point them in the right direction to other local PAโ€™s, if that is their wish.

โœˆ๏ธ I go on holiday once a year and plan way in advance, so I can give these dates at least 6 months prior to being on leave.

๐Ÿ”น Any questions, please drop me a message. If I donโ€™t answer straight away, it will be because I am driving or with a client, so will get back to you as soon as possible ๐Ÿ™‚

Dementia doesnโ€™t discriminate, and neither do we ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’™

Living with dementia can have a unique set of challenges for people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Our Dementia Support Line team explain some of these challenges and highlights the support that is available, in the Q&A below:

Q. What LGTBQ+ support is available locally?

A. There are lots of LGBTQ+ support groups and rainbow memory cafes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can find your nearest one via our dementia directory.

Q. Where can I find information and device on LGBTQ+ and dementia?

A. We have two very good publications - one for those living with dementia and one for their loved ones and carers. These explain how to cope with an additional set of challenges our community may face when affected by dementia, like regression, for instance.

Q. What advice do you have for carer of a person from the LGTBQ+ community?

A. Safety is important for everyone affected by dementia, but particularly for the LGBTQ+ community because they may have faced discrimination, prejudice or isolation due to who they are or who they love. Reassurance can go a long way. Reassure your loved ones they are safe, give them comfort, and if they are still distressed, then bring in a distraction.

Q. Who can I speak to for LGBTQ+ friendly support and advice?

A. All our support line advisers have been trained on how to support someone from our community. This means you can speak to someone who truly understands. If you need advice, guidance or someone to talk to, call our support line 0333 150 3456, or visit www.alzheimers.org.uk

Hereโ€™s what the changes to Personal Independence Payments (PIP) mean for people living with dementia.

Starting from November 2026, the Government is tightening the eligibility criteria for PIP. PIP helps people who have difficulty doing certain everyday tasks or getting around as a result of their long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.

People living with dementia will often have additional costs around care and may be unable to work due to dementia symptoms.

These changes may be concerning, but most people with dementia wonโ€™t be affected as new claims for PIP are only possible up to the state pension age.

For those with young onset dementia (under state pension age), around 71,000 people in the UK, itโ€™s important to understand how these changes may impact you as an individual. Citizenโ€™s Advice can give specific advice based on your individual circumstance.

We believe that all people living with dementia need adequate support to be able to live as well and as independently as possible, with their carers supported similarly.
