🌟 A special shout-out to our fantastic Year 13 Student Ambassadors (PSG and Prefects) who gave their time today to support our Year 7 and Year 12 induction programmes.

A very warm welcome to all our Year 12 students who began their WGS6 journey today!

Students enjoyed a busy and engaging induction programme, with sessions on student leadership, mental health and wellbeing, learning styles, independent learning, careers, work experience, and the many opportunities available through our super-curricular and extracurricular programmes.

A huge thank you to our Year 13 Student Ambassadors, who generously gave their time to support the day and help our new Year 12 students settle into life at WGS6.

It was wonderful to see everyone meeting their form groups, making new friends and embracing the start of an exciting new chapter. We wish you all a happy and successful two years ahead!

🎓 Alumni Update: Tom Lewis

Many members of our school community will remember former student Tom Lewis, who successfully underwent treatment for leukaemia during his time at WGS6. We are delighted to share an update on his remarkable journey.

Tom is preparing to begin his second year at Liverpool John Moores University, where he has become a Cancer Support Ambassador, using his own experiences to support students and staff affected by cancer.

He has also founded LJMU Marrow, a new student society affiliated with the stem-cell charity Anthony Nolan. The group will encourage people to join the stem-cell donor register and raise vital funds for the charity. In recognition of his inspiring work, Tom has been invited to speak at Anthony Nolan’s national conference in September.

On 18 October, Tom will run the Amsterdam Marathon alongside Steve—the stem-cell donor who saved his life. Together, they are raising money for Anthony Nolan and running in memory of former WGSB student Adam Lacey.

Tom and Steve have already raised more than £1400 towards their £1,500 target. If you would like to support them, please visit:

We are incredibly proud of everything Tom continues to achieve and hope to welcome him back to school later this year for a special speaker session.

WGS6 student, Nathan tipped for a future in the UFC!

We are incredibly proud of Nathan, who has been part of our school community since Year 7 and will continue his journey with us as he moves into Year 12 at WGS6.

Nathan was recently featured in the Wirral Globe following his first paid MMA victory, defeating his opponent with a submission in an under-70kg contest. He has already represented England at the IMMAF European and World Championships, and his coach believes he has the potential to reach the UFC.

Nathan’s discipline, determination and ambition are hugely impressive. We look forward to supporting him as he continues both his studies and his exciting sporting journey at WGS6.

Congratulations, Nathan! 💙💜
