Beckford Open Village Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th.

Just a reminder that it's Beckford Open Village this weekend, running from 1pm to 6pm on both days. Not only is our beautiful Nature Reserve a key attraction, we've got something for everyone:

• 15 Open Gardens including gardens new for '26

• WI Teas in the Village Hall
• Baguettes, Beer and Cider
• Live Music

A perfect day out for the family with Children's Activities.
Dogs are very welcome with water bowls and treats around the village.

This Saturday (28th March, 09:00 - 11:00) is the last working party of the season, tending to the public footpaths and laying the remaining wood chippings.

Please come along if you fancy helping out, or just to meet the Trustees and share your experiences of Beckford Nature Reserve.

This key was found this morning at the Beckford Nature Reserve car parking spaces, please get in touch if it is yours.

A huge thank you to our small army of amazing volunteers who helped out at today's working party.

The team managed to widen the footpaths (where necessary), laid fresh wood chippings and shored-up areas of the footpath that was susceptible to erosion - making the Reserve as accessible as possible.

We hope you continue to enjoy this beautiful and tranquil space - BNR Trustees.

Update on the swans at Beckford Nature Reserve - thank you to Vale Wildlife for carrying out such a prompt assessment on site.

Unfortunately one of the 'new swans' has died and they've taken the injured other to see what they can do in terms of recovery. Whilst this is far from ideal, the 2 residents are settled back on the water.

One thing Vale Wildlife mentioned is that bird flu is prevalent, and that ALL dogs should be on a short lead and under control at ALL times - please can we rely on your support with this; we really want the Reserve to be enjoyed by ALL.

Many thanks - BNR Trustees.

ORIGINAL POST:
You may have noticed that we have additional swans at Beckford Nature Reserve. The swans are taking time to settle in and are occasionally being aggressive towards each other, and have been seen on the banks of the Reserve and the local vicinity too.

With this in mind please keep your dogs on a short lead and ensure children are closely supervised.

Many thanks - BNR Trustees.

A big thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped out at today's working party, plus the great support from Skanska too.

We have recently replaced the worn fencing, repositioned the seat on the east side - making it more usable, as well as widening the footpath on the east side to make the Reserve as accessible as possible.

We hope you continue to enjoy this beautiful and tranquil space - BNR Trustees.
