Merry Christmas from all of us at North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. 🎄
We hope you won’t need us over the festive period, but if you do, our crews, officers and control room staff will be working- ready and here for you.

We also want to say a huge thank you to everyone working throughout Christmas and to our incredible communities who support us throughout the year.

If you’re on cooking duty tomorrow, good luck! Make sure it’s remembered for all the right reasons by following these top tips:

✅ Never leave cooking unattended
✅ Keep flammable items like tea towels and packaging away from the cooker.
✅ Make sure pan handles are turned inwards to avoid knocks and spills.
✅ Keep children and pets away from hot surfaces and pans.

Langdale Wildfire Update
Yesterday, our crews responded to a flare-up in a forestry area within the established control lines of the incident. We're continuing to work closely with Forestry England to monitor the site.

Additionally, an unexploded ordnance (UXO) was discovered and reported, followed by a large explosion on the moorland. For your safety and the safety of our crews, please continue to avoid the area.

The weather conditions today include:
• Mild temperatures & humidity
• Showers likely later in the day
• Strong gusts expected this afternoon
These conditions may increase the risk of further flare-ups. Our teams will be monitoring moorland areas closely. If you're affected by smoke, please follow public health advice to keep doors and windows closed.
