What a beautiful way to celebrate International Day of Yoga ๐Ÿงก

A huge thank you to Vanessa and everyone who joined her special yoga class in her garden in Bedford on Friday, 19 June, in support of HOPE.

Together, 15 participants (and one four-legged yogi) came together to practise and make a difference, with many more from Vanessa's wonderful community donating even though they couldn't attend.

Thanks to this incredible generosity, an amazing ยฃ346.50 was raised, plus ยฃ86.60 in Gift Aid, bringing the total to ยฃ433! ๐ŸŽ‰

Every pound raised will help support street-connected children and families living in extreme poverty in Kolkata.

Thank you, Vanessa, for your kindness and generosity ๐Ÿงก

Inspired by Vanessa? Through Yoga for HOPE, teachers and studios can hold a class or fundraising event at any time during the year and help create brighter futures for children in Kolkata. Please email Juliette at [email protected] for more information.

Step away from the noise and into the quiet rhythm of the forest ๐Ÿƒ

Forest bathing is an experience designed to help you slow down, awaken the senses, and reconnect with the natural world in a calm and intentional way. Rooted in therapeutic and trauma-informed practice, it invites you to step out of doing and into simply being.

At the Yoga Garden Party 2026 at Castle Ashby, this guided forest therapy walk will be led by Tracy Northampton, a qualified Forest Therapy Guide and UKCP/BACP-accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor with nearly four decades of clinical experience. The session gently weaves together psychotherapeutic insight, poetry, and sensory-based invitations within the living landscape of the estate.

The walk unfolds at an unhurried pace, creating a reflective space where sharing is optional, and silence is respected. The forest itself becomes a quiet co-facilitator, offering support through presence, connection, and attentive awareness.

As part of the wider Yoga Garden Party taking place on 1 August at Castle Ashby, a wellbeing event in support of HOPE, this unique experience offers a complementary practice alongside yoga, Pilates, meditation and other sessions, bringing a different rhythm to the day: one of stillness, restoration and deep listening.

Long after today, the need for support in Kolkata will still be there.

For some, leaving a gift in their Will is a way of continuing to stand alongside children and families facing the hardest circumstances - helping to keep children safe, in education, and supported.

If itโ€™s something you have ever considered, we would be happy to share more - please contact us at [email protected] or find out more at https://ow.ly/G64e50YXzie

Today, on International Yoga Day, we celebrate a practice with deep roots in India - one that has connected people for generations through movement, reflection, balance, and community ๐Ÿงก

If you are a yoga teacher, studio, or practitioner and would like to be part of the Yoga for HOPE movement, we would love to hear from you. Whether it is a single class, workshop, or community event, your support makes all the difference for the marginalised children and families in Kolkata. Please email Juliette at [email protected] for more information.

As an organisation supporting children and families in Kolkata, this day feels especially meaningful to HOPE. Yoga reminds us of the importance of wellbeing and resilience, which are values that sit at the heart of so much of HOPEโ€™s work.

Throughout the year, members of the global yoga community stand alongside HOPE by holding classes and raising vital funds to support children and families in Kolkata and today and every day, we simply want to say - thank you.

And if you would like to experience yoga in support of HOPE this summer, tickets for the Yoga Garden Party at Castle Ashby on 1 August are still available at https://ow.ly/K5M850Z7uNN

While progress has been made globally, child labour remains a reality for millions of children. Recent estimates show that nearly 138 million children worldwide are still engaged in child labour, including around 54 million in hazardous work *

Every child deserves a childhood filled with learning, play, and opportunity, not work that puts their health, safety, or future at risk.

While progress has been made globally, child labour remains a reality for millions of children. Recent estimates show that nearly 138 million children worldwide are still engaged in child labour, including around 54 million in hazardous work.*

For many vulnerable and street-connected children in Kolkata, poverty and instability can increase the risk of exploitation. This is why access to education, protection, and supportive environments remains so important.

Behind every statistic is a child in a safe classroom, a marginalised family receiving vital healthcare, a young person learning new skills and gaining independence, or someone finding safety and support when they need it most.

Only last year, together we helped support:

๐Ÿงก 46,733 people through HOPE healthcare programmes across Kolkata, including 15,819 patients treated at HOPE Hospital
๐Ÿงก 9,078 children through education, crรจches, sponsorship, and inclusive learning programmes
๐Ÿงก 1,579 children and adults protected from abuse and neglect through Residential Child Care and Child Watch
๐Ÿงก 880 young people through vocational training and income-generation opportunities to help build sustainable futures

And while these numbers are significant, much of this support starts with everyday essentials:

๐Ÿงก ยฃ8.60 can help provide a pair of shoes and a school uniform
๐Ÿงก ยฃ30 can buy educational stationery and toys
๐Ÿงก ยฃ80 can contribute towards a teacherโ€™s monthly salary
๐Ÿงก ยฃ100 can help purchase educational books for a child

These services are critical, not extras. Education, healthcare, protection, and opportunity can change the direction of a childโ€™s life and help families build greater stability for the future.

Every donation, large or small, helps make this possible.
