The Police are appealing for witnesses after yesterday’s crash on the A6.

| We are appealing for witnesses after a road collision in which a man was seriously injured at Barton-le-Clay yesterday (Wednesday).

The incident happened just after 10.30am on the A6 northbound at Barton Cutting just after the junction with Faldo Road.

A silver Vauxhall Astra left the road before going into a ditch and colliding with a tree.

The driver, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries. He is currently being treated in hospital.

We are asking anyone who was travelling in the area who saw anything or who may have dashcam footage that could assist us to come forward.

Please report online - https://orlo.uk/Ozht4 - or call 101 quoting reference 133 of 27 May or Operation Kirby.

**BE ALERT TO FIRE RISKS DURING WARM WEATHER**
The extremely hot and dry weather we are experiencing currently has heightened the risk of grass, rubbish and open land fires.

Please do your bit to prevent fires by:

- Not using barbecues in parks and open spaces: Grass will be tinder dry after such hot weather, so can easily catch fire from the heat of a barbecue.
- Not disposing of lit ci******es: always make sure ci******es are fully extinguished before disposing of them in an appropriate bin.
- Disposing of glass properly: always dispose of glass items in an appropriate bin. Glass can cause refraction fires when exposed to direct sunlight.

Central Beds Council are undertaking their scoping consultation on their new Local Plan until 3rd June 2026. Don't forget to have your say!

Our Local Plan scoping consultation is now open.
In 2024, we asked what was important in making somewhere a great place to live and what should be included in the new Local Plan. This consultation is a chance to tell us whether those issues and priorities are still the right ones as we develop the plan.
The Local Plan will guide how Central Bedfordshire grows up to 2050, including the homes, jobs, and infrastructure we need, while helping to protect our communities and environment.
