🌿 BIG NEWS: We are growing a greener future! 🌿

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Renhold Primary School is officially working towards becoming Bedfordshire’s very first primary LEAF Demonstration School! 🚜📚

Who are LEAF?
Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF) is an incredible organisation dedicated to inspiring and enabling sustainable farming. They work tirelessly to help people understand where their food comes from and how farming can work in harmony with nature to protect our environment. 🌎

Our Journey to Sustainability
As a school, we are working closely with LEAF to integrate sustainability into our curriculum and enrichment opportunities. From understanding biodiversity to exploring the journey from "farm to fork," we want our pupils to lead the way in protecting our planet.

To kickstart this exciting journey, our school has made a Sustainability Pledge. Our pupils have been hard at work thinking about the small changes they can make to create a big impact.

Here are some of our wonderful pupil pledges:
🌱 I want to know if we can run out of food?
🍎 I want to know what farmers do to look after our environment
🐝 I want to know more about where my food comes from

This is such an incredible opportunity for our school and our children to become pioneers in environmental education. We can’t wait to share our progress with you as we work towards this prestigious status!

Class 5 had a fantastic day during their visit to Manor Farm on Thursday. The trip gave the children a wonderful opportunity to learn more about farming, sustainability, and where our food comes from through a range of hands-on activities.

Throughout the day, the children explored the farm and learnt about the different grains grown there and the products they are used to make. They took part in a farm walk where they discovered cover crops, agroforestry, and how farmers help to care for the environment while producing food.

One of the highlights of the day was the “Marvellous Mini Fields” activity, where pupils explored the journey from wheat seed to food products such as bread and cereal. They also learnt about crop health by playing a “Friend or Foe” game, identifying which insects and creatures help or harm crops.

The children enjoyed exploring the machinery used on the farm, including a combine harvester and tractors, and learnt how the equipment is used during harvesting. In the afternoon, they toured the market garden, tasted fresh produce, planted seeds, and created nature bracelets.

The children represented the school brilliantly throughout the visit. Their enthusiasm, and curiosity were excellent, and they asked thoughtful questions throughout the day.

We are excited to share a look inside our Sensory Spaces! 🌿☁️

At our school, we know that for a child to be ready to learn, they first need to feel regulated and secure. These dedicated areas aren't just "quiet corners"—they are vital hubs designed to help our students:

Regulate: Providing the tools to find calm or "recharge" when the world feels a little too loud.

Build Independence: Empowering children to recognise their own needs and choose the right strategies to find their balance.

Develop Emotional Literacy: Creating a safe environment to identify, name, and work through big feelings.

Prioritising mental wellbeing means giving every child the space they need to flourish. We love seeing our students use these tools with such confidence! 💛

We’ve recently received some excellent feedback about our wonderful Pre-School, who have been taking part in a series of ShREC Walkthrus (find out more here: https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/early-years/the-shrec-approach)

"Staff were consistently observed positioning themselves at the children’s level, playing alongside them and adjusting their body positioning to support eye contact, shared attention and joint engagement"

"Staff continued to show strong awareness of matching their language to the child’s level, with many examples of match plus one used effectively to extend children’s spoken language. This was evident across both free play and focused activities. "

"The activities available for the children were clearly well planned and thoughtfully resourced, offering a range of engaging, multi sensory experiences. These activities provided purposeful opportunities for interaction, supporting meaningful, language rich conversations and enabling adults to model and extend language within play."

What a fantastic start to the half term! 📚✨

This morning’s Reading Breakfast was a huge success – a perfect way to kick things off. Children enjoyed high-quality texts, dedicated time to read, and the chance to share stories with their favourite adults 🧡

All of this while sipping juice and enjoying croissants and fresh fruit… what could be better! 🥐🍎

A big thank you to our amazing PTFA for their generous breakfast donation – we couldn’t have done it without you! 👏

The school was alive with energy this week as students took to the stage for their fantastic iRock concert! Showcasing their growing confidence and musical talent, the performers wowed the audience with a lively mix of songs, including crowd favourites like Livin’ on a Prayer, Sk8er Boi, and Titanium. From powerful vocals to impressive instrumental skills, every act demonstrated the hard work and enthusiasm the children have put into their rehearsals. It was wonderful to see so many families supporting the event and celebrating the students’ achievements. Well done to all our young rockstars for such an unforgettable performance!

It was truly wonderful to welcome so many parents, carers, and family members into school for our writing open classrooms this half term. The children were incredibly proud to showcase their work, sharing their ideas, creativity, and progress with such enthusiasm. It was especially lovely to see families getting involved in the writing process; whether through discussing ideas, celebrating achievements, or even writing alongside the children. Events like these are so important, as they strengthen the partnership between home and school, help children see that their learning is valued, and build confidence and motivation. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the experience so positive and meaningful for our pupils.
