Dear friends of ECO GANG,
With just a few hours away from our first friendly meetup, here's one final 'THANK YOU in advance' for your hard work, plus a little more info on what to expect from today's tidy up.
Some good news first: we're not the only ones who are concerned about environmental issues and cleanliness of our town! A few local businesses, and Bedford Borough Council have already given this event a big thumbs up and are supporting our initiative!
Bedford Borough Council has kindly allowed us to borrow some equipment for the tidy up, and organised to collect all the waste we pick up after the event. Our council is already working hard to make our town a nicer place to live in, and any additional help they provide does take a little chunk out of their budget. So, it's up to us to collect as much waste as we possibly can, so this kind of event can potentially receive even more help in the future!
As it stands we are able to provide equipment (litter picker, garden gloves, bin bag hoops or hi-vis jacket) for up to 30 people at a time, so if you do own your own picker, old carrier bags, garden gloves or hi-vis, please bring them along as they'll be a big help in case there are more of us than the number currently confirmed.
The Longholme and Kiosk At The Park are also very kindly offering their support to us today! In the spirit of being ECO conscious, bring your own cup or flask and you'll get free water refills (hot water too if you fancy a cuppa whilst you're on the go) from the Kiosk At The Park. Alternatively, if you forget yours, The Longholme Cafe will be providing free bottled water for participants (in exchange for an ECO GANG coupon which will be handed out to those who need at the start of the event). Toilet facilities will also be available to all ECO GANG friends at the Longholme Cafe throughout the day.
Last but not least, as the Bedford Tidy will be running from 11am - 5pm, we're hoping to cover a fairly large area, so if you're planning on joining a bit later in the day just check our event page for hourly updates of our whereabouts.
