HopeWorks

HopeWorks King's Arms Project is a registered charity with around 50 volunteers and over 40 paid staff, supporting over 500 homeless individuals each year.

Restore | Rebuild | Reimagine
We break cycles of poverty and loneliness by creating spaces for community, where people find support,
dignity and the chance to start again. Housing and supporting the homeless in Bedford since 1989, at King’s Arms Project we are passionate about seeing those on the edge of society equipped and enabled to fulfill their true potential.

Journeys of Hope 🧡

Jay* came to HopeWorks as a teenager after experiencing homelessness. Over time, with the support of our team, he has built stability, taken up great opportunities and progressed in his career.

At HopeWorks, we get to be a part of journeys like Jay’s every day. Helping to build stability and growth through consistency, support and confidence building.

It’s Volunteers’ Week! 🧡

Throughout this week, we’ll be celebrating the incredible volunteers who give their time, skills and energy to HopeWorks, as well as the people who support them along the way.

Today, we’re introducing our Volunteer Coordinator, Olivia, who plays a key role in developing our volunteer programme across the organisation and supporting all the volunteers who give their time to HopeWorks.

Volunteers are an important part of HopeWorks, helping us extend our reach, strengthen our services and make a difference across the communities we work with in Bedford.

Keep an eye out this week as we share more about volunteering with us. You can also check our the ‘Get Involved’ section of our website if you’re interested in finding out more!

Meet the teams at HopeWorks 🧡

Our work is delivered across four key teams, who each play a vital role in supporting people across Bedford.

Our Outreach, Pathways, Supported Accommodation and Refugee & Migrant Services teams each provide different types of practical, specialist support, working with people at different stages of their journey.

From first contact through to long term support, our teams work incredibly hard to make sure people receive the right support at the right time.

We’re incredibly proud of our whole team and so grateful for the dedication, compassion and hard work they bring to HopeWorks each and every day!

We’re proud to share that HopeWorks has been shortlisted for the Workforce Development Award at the Homeless Link Excellence Awards 2026 ✨

This award recognises organisations within the homelessness sector that invest in the growth, wellbeing and development of their staff, helping to create supportive environments, opportunities for learning and strong, sustainable teams.

Being nominated and shortlisted reflects the care, commitment and collaboration shown across our organisation every day, and we’re so incredibly proud of our whole team 🧡

56 Miles in May is well underway 👟🧡

Throughout May, people are taking on the challenge of completing 56 miles to support HopeWorks. Every mile completed and every pound raised helps provide safety, support and hope to people who need it most in our community.

We asked some of the people taking part why they decided to get involved this year and to share a little about what the challenge means to them.

Whether you’re walking, running or cycling, there’s still time to join in!

If you’d like to get involved or to donate, you can find the JustGiving link in our bio or drop us a message for more information 🏃
