Reform “might not have shared the full picture.” 🤔

Anyone else noticing a pattern?

Reform UK has admitted it might not have shared "the full picture" after falsely claiming a Nottinghamshire MP said she did not care about stopping small boats.

The row centers on an audio recording taken from a meeting attended by the Labour MP for Bassetlaw, who was recently appointed as a Home Office minister in the Andy Burnham government.

The clip was first published by the Guido Fawkes news site in 2025.

Following her ministerial appointment, Reform MP Robert Jenrick shared the audio on social media and claimed it featured her saying "I don't care if we stop the boats".

Nigel Farage also posted the same claims on his page.

Yet Jo White had already clarified when the recording was first released that her actual words were: "My focus is to make sure we stop those boats. I don't care WHO will stop the boats. My number one priority is to stop those boats."

Despite that public clarification, the claims were shared again online.

Lord John Mann, Jo White's husband and a former Labour MP, called on Robert Jenrick to issue a public apology.

The Bassetlaw MP said Reform UK deliberately twisted her words and demanded they withdraw the false claim immediately.

While the Newark MP deleted his post, he has not issued an apology.

A spokesperson for Reform UK told the Nottingham Post: "We've always trusted Guido Fawkes as a source of information, but perhaps on this occasion they didn't get the full picture."

The clarification given by Jo White was already contained within the original Guido Fawkes article itself.

The Reform spokesperson then added: "We await Burnham's first mention of the small boats - he clearly doesn't give a t***."

We ❤️ our Broxtowe pubs, clubs and venues.

🌹

For too long the pubs, clubs and live music venues have been disappearing from high streets.

That is why Andy Burnham’s government is stepping in, and cutting their business rates from April 2027.
