Better Beeston is a locally-led campaign to build a cleaner, neater, more beautiful community across Hill in south .

This month (August 2026), instead of our regular litterpicks, we're doing something different, and running a 2 or 3 neighbourhood action events, to blitz small niggly areas, in conjunction with the South Leeds Urban Task Force (www.facebook.com/groups/4841481355938824).

Join us this Monday (10th August), from 4pm, meeting at the Malvern Road bus stop LS11 6AH. In partnership with residents, St. Lukes Church, Holbeck, and St Luke's Tenants and Residents Association, we're giving the area around Coupland Place, Malvern Road, Lady Pit Lane, and Beeston Road a proper spring clean. Strimming, trimming, sweeping, clearing flytipping, etc.

Join us if you can, bring tools if possible (but no worries if you can't), and just come say hello even if you can't physically help out. We also plan to drink tea, eat biscuits, chat, connect, and have a nice time.

Or stay in touch about future sessions, including one on the Greenmounts (details TBC). Or shout if you want to host us in your neighbourhood.

The Better Beeston team are out again tomorrow (Sunday 12th July) for our monthly session around Lady Pit Lane / Rowlands / Stratfords / etc.

But we're out at the later time of 4pm - to miss the heat, and not clash with the 'Bands in the Park' event in Cross Flatts Park (join them if you can: set up from 1pm, event from 2.30pm).

Many thanks to all those helping to create a cleaner, neater, more attractive here in south . Every act (big, small, or tiny) makes a difference.

After yesterday's amazing Beeston Festival it was a pleasure to team up to get Cross Flatts Park back in to a respectable tidy park.

A massive thanks to Neil Rhodes Christopher White Hannah Ward James Sandiman Sasha Watson and Sasha's daughter who helped pick over 13 bags of litter.

A particular neighbourhood in Beeston Hill has been massively overshadowed by an infamous local 'grotspot' at a derelict property.

A posse of us tackled it this weekend, with our best upcycling and Tetris skills. Many thanks to all involved, including those plying us with snacks and drinks.

Hi folks. Better Beeston is a bit different this month. We're meeting at Maud Avenue LS11 7DN, today (Sunday 21st June), at the later time of 5pm, to tackle two particular hot-spots in the neighbourhood. We'll be done within an hour. Join us if you can. We launched our Better Beeston campaign against litter and flytipping, and to support community beautification, in early 2024 (and some of us have been taking action for 20+ years).

Many thanks to every single volunteer (100+ since 2024) who have helped. Together, we've collected 1,000+ bags of litter.

And we've also worked with local schools and organisations to build community awareness, and worked with the Council and others on enforcement action, and supported those taking action on street art, community growing, etc.

More help always welcome! And sorry, we didn't promote this (due to election mayhem), but we're out again TODAY (Sunday 10th May) for our regular monthly community clear-up, from 1pm, at the paved junction of Lady Pit Lane and Stratford Street LS11 6JG. Kit, snacks, and good vibes provided.
