Cheeky tricks and wild surprises, not blood-curdling scares! 🎃 Howloween is back at Howletts from 23 October to 1 November. Meet creatures in the Creepy Cave, watch the animals tuck into pumpkins at Feast for Beasts, and follow the Whose Poo Trick Trail. Kids aged 3 to 15 go free with an adult ticket, booked online in advance.

Meet the gorilla family: Part two 🦍

Bamilla is a very sweet individual. She always greets her keepers with the loud grumbles when they arrive every morning. However, she can be unpredictable and spirited in her behaviour towards individuals she is unsure of. She enjoys her enrichment, especially large ice blocks filled with tasty treats. Bamilla is known for her stick throwing and her occasional loud outbursts during conflicts.
Born 29th August 1987 to Bitam and Killa Killa.

Sanki is a very confident individual. Lekedi is her fourth baby and she can be very protective over him. Recently, she has allowed other group members to interact with him under her watchful eye. Sanki loves her food and shows her excitement at feeding times with her distinctive singing and humming.
Born 4th July 1998 to Kifu and Sounda.

Affy has a strong personality. She's a very confident and strong-minded individual and is the most dominant female within Sammi's Group. She's a first-time mum to Saffi and is very affectionate towards her. She lives alongside her full sister Masindi and enjoys spending time with her and Sammi.

Lekedi is the newest member of Djanghou's group. His keepers say he's quite advanced for his age. He's becoming more adventurous and can be seen moving around independently at times…but always close by to mum. He's become more confident with his climbing skills and can often be seen climbing anything he can get his hands on! His confidence has grown over the past couple of months and he's developing a cheeky little personality.
Born 19th December 2025 to Djanghou and Sanki.

Saffi is the newest addition to Sammi's Group. She's a very jolly individual and enjoys playing with her dad, Sammi, and aunties, Masindi and Mali. She has become more independent and is often moving about the space frame foraging independently at feeds.
Saffi is 3 years old (born 17th April 2023 to Sammi and Affy).

Meet the gorillas 🦍

Dihi
Dihi is a sweet gorilla and a respected member of Ebeki's group. She's a very protective and good mother who never lets her offspring out of her sight or wander too far. All of Dihi's offspring are usually very strong characters, so she has her hands full! She's not overly interested in keepers and focuses more on the other gorillas within the group.
Born 27th April 1984 to Bongo and Mintha.

Ikebe
Ikebe is a very playful gorilla who enjoys playing with his dad Ebeki. Although he appears to be quite confident, he has a sensitive side. He lets his younger brother Kumbi cuddle up to him in his nest at night, even though typically only mum and baby share a nest. He also comforts Kumbi when he's upset. Big brother goals, right there. Ikebe is usually the first out the house in the morning and enjoys playing with enrichment.
Ikebe is 8 years old (born 12th May 2018 to Ebeki and Dihi).

Kumbi
Kumbi is a very jolly gorilla with a feisty personality. He seeks comfort from other individuals within the group and cuddles up to his older brother Ikebe when he sleeps. When he's awake, he's often seen playing with his siblings.
Kumbi is 4 years old (born 22nd July 2022 to Ebeki and Dihi).

Minnie
Minnie is very playful and loves playing with and sitting on boomer balls! She can usually be seen lying on her back, spinning the boomers with her hands and feet. Her favourite playmate? Kiale.
Minnie is 7 years old (born 19th June 2019 to Sammi and Masindi).

Kiale
Kiale is the youngest member of Ebeki's group. Despite being the smallest, she's the sassiest…especially when it comes to food! She enjoys playing with her siblings and chasing boomer balls around.
Kiale is 2 years old (born 8th May 2024 to Ebeki and Dihi).
