It’s been an incredibly busy start to the week, supporting those presenting for support and we have stepped up our outreach giving recent events. Today we worked with the Welcome Organisation and agencies to support those families displaced last night and have been out across Belfast reassuring many families who have been left frightened.

Our team are back out this evening providing assistance and hoping it will be a more peaceful night. Stay safe everyone 💚

Delighted that Belfast City Hall was lit up with our colours last week and we had a fantastic night celebrating the achievements of all the volunteers. In a City that is gripped with addiction and drugs, we will continue to shine a light on the most important issues affecting all communities.

Warning over availability of ‘spice’ vapes on Belfast streets

Many people unknowingly purchase it in vapes disguised as THC or cannabis oil yet it can be between 10 or 100 times more potent.

Sad to see there is an increasing number of individuals on the streets and in the community using this drug. Spice is a street name for synthetic cannabinoids, laboratory-made chemicals designed to mimic the psychoactive effects of natural cannabis.

PHA have advised that they are aware that spice is causing great concern across Northern Ireland due to the effect it is having on users.

Users need to be aware of the dangers and to seek help in an emergency. We have requested that the PHA provide training for all agencies on this increasing problem to help reduce the effect on the users. We will continue to highlight the issues of drugs and call statutory agencies and political leaders to show more leadership, we are playing catch up on other major cities on dealing with a drug’s situation that is spiralling out of control.

On Thursday evening at Belfast City Hall, volunteers and those who support our work enjoyed a fantastic evening of music, food and we were delighted to acknowledge the hard work of many volunteers who continue to dedicate their time every week.

Thank you to Deputy Mayor Paul Doherty for all his support and all those who made it a successful night including those who sponsored the evening, NB Housing, Newington HA & Clanmil.

It’s been another incredibly busy week for our teams dealing with hundreds of individuals presenting for support. A message from a person who we have been supporting and provided emergency accommodation to.

“You’re honestly the first person to give me a chance like this. Ive been able to centre myself and stay away from the streets and haven’t had my stuff stolen or been bullied like i was having to deal with before and in the crash beds i was sometimes getting”

‘’Provided I make the most of it and start fighting for life again. And after everythjng ive been through to get here, I know I’ll never, ever give up. All I need is the right chance to fight’

‘’That’s all I want is a stable bed to build from’’

Is this much to ask for? Sadly many are denied this in Belfast every single day.
