First established amongst the business community in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter and Smithfield & Union area - the oldest parts of the City - in October 2016, the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID) renewed its mandate in 2021. The wider Cathedral Quarter area is the leading destination for culture, hospitality, tourism, enterprise, and learning, offering a dynamic and genuine exp

erience of Belfast for residents and visitors alike. The CQ BID gives the area’s stakeholders the opportunity to continue delivering improvements and benefits, working together into the future. Destination CQ is a democratically elected not-for-profit organisation with a voluntary Board of Directors that is representative of the area’s businesses. Under government legislation, all BIDs have a five-year tenure, at the end of which they must be re-elected in order to continue their work.

We're excited to announce that we have officially begun restoration works on The Calling (by Paddy McCann) - a striking public art sculpture located at the junction of Gordon Street and Dunbar Link.

Public art plays a vital role in shaping the identity and experience of the CQ BID area. This restoration project is about more than maintenance - it's about revitalizing a landmark, preserving its artistic integrity and enhancing the streetscape for everyone who lives, works and visits the area.

We look forward to sharing progress updates as the work continues and to unveiling a refreshed 'The Calling' for the community to enjoy once again.

We're proud to celebrate the success of our Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment event held at Writers' Square!

Over 400 items of electrical waste were safely collected and will now be processed for responsible recycling. This not only diverts waste from landfill but also ensures valuable materials are recovered and reused.

This initiative is part of CQ BID's ongoing commitment to create a safer, cleaner, greener Cathedral Quarter BID area, while supporting businesses.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day a success!

**Many people had enquired yesterday about the possibility of doing an office furniture waste collection day, if you are a business in the CQ BID area and this is something you are interested in, please contact us at [email protected]
