40 (North Irish Horse) Signal Squadron is a Royal Signals Army Reserve Unit utilising state of the art IT and Communications equipment. The methods used are at the forefront of modern digital military communications and information systems te

chnology and the Corps strives to live up to its motto 'Certa Cito', which freely translated means 'Swift and Sure'.

40 (North Irish Horse) Signal Squadron is currently recruiting. We are a specialist Army Reserve unit that provides vital communications support and information management to the Armed Forces, Emergency Services, and Local Government Agencies in times of crisis. We are prepared to respond quickly to situations such as:
• Terrorist Attacks
• Natural Disasters
• Flooding
• Enhanced Security for Political Summits. The job roles available within the Squadron are, Communications Systems Operators, Drivers, Chefs, Clerks, and Medics. Opportunities also exist for overseas operations. In recent years, our remit has expanded to include Op HERRICK / Op TORAL (Afghanistan), Op TELIC (Iraq) as well as supporting UN Operations in Germany and Cyprus (Op TOSCA). In addition to having personnel on operations abroad, we continue to fulfil our UK Operations role through providing support for the 2012 London Olympic games, and the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. You can join the Army Reserves if you are aged between 17.9 months and 44.11. Higher age limits will be considered for people with specialist skills and trades. Army Reserve soldiers are paid for each day they train. Pay increases with individual's time served, and rank achieved. There are other financial benefits to joining, such as the annual tax free bonus. To see soldier’s daily rates of pay and bonus, please follow the link below. http://www.army.mod.uk/join/Careers-in-the-Army.aspx

Our training takes place on Tuesday evenings, between 1930 - 2130 hours, and usually one or two weekends per month. You are not obligated to go to every training weekend, or training night, so it can fit well with full time employment, and family life. Throughout the training year, a lot of social events take place. Events such as Burns suppers, Halloween parties, Christmas functions, and some charity events. You will get to enjoy the social side of joining the reserves, as well as the main soldiering aspect of reserve life. If you are interested in joining the Squadron, and would like more information, please contact us via the email address, or the telephone number provided. From the slopes of Slemish Mountain to a memorable farewell dinner in the Warrant Officers and Sgts Mess, we had the opportunity to celebrate some truly remarkable people.

This past weekend, we formally said goodbye to WO2 Gamble, WO2 Reid, SSgt Gordon, Sgt Colgan, Cpl Agnew & Cpl McKeown whose careers represent almost 200 years of combined service. Their dedication, professionalism and commitment have left a lasting impact.

Congratulations also to Sgt Clarke, Sgt Colgan & Sgt Ritchie who received Bars for the Volunteer Reserves Service Medal, recognising their service and commitment to the Army Reserve.

A fitting weekend to honour the past while celebrating ongoing service.
