Business Transformation Grants Programme

Businesses, social enterprises and enterprise partners in the Derry City and Strabane District area can now apply for new economic development funding through the Derry Strabane Local Economic Partnership, supported by the Department for the Economy’s Regional Balance Fund.

Grants from £5,000 to £25,000 are available.

Projects demonstrating growth may include:

- Introducing new technology or automation that significantly improves efficiency.
- Increasing production or service capacity to meet growing demand.
- Developing new products or services enabled by investment.
- Implementing systems that fundamentally change business operations.

Applications will close at midday on 16 July 2026.

The Rural Action Awards are offering grants to support volunteer-led community projects across rural areas of Northern Ireland and the border region of Ireland.

Grants of £1,000 or €1,000 are available to constituted rural organisations, including social enterprises, charities, not-for-profit groups, and sporting, cultural or heritage bodies. In total, 12 projects will be supported, with three funding rounds running and four projects selected at random in each round following verification.

The call for applications will close on Saturday 20 June 2026.

Programmes to help women entrepreneurs grow, innovate and scale

Women entrepreneurs across the island of Ireland can access programmes designed to support business growth, innovation and scaling:

- WeGrow supports established women-led SMEs to expand and assess their business potential. Applications for cohorts 3 and 4 close 4 September 2026, with an online information session on 25 June 2026
- WeScale helps women scale their businesses through expert-led learning, mentoring and investor access.

All programmes offer mentoring, workshops, tailored support and networking opportunities.

They are delivered through the Shared Island Enterprise Scheme by InterTradeIreland, in partnership with Invest Northern Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.

Projects should enhance green spaces, build civic pride and support community wellbeing. Activities can include transforming underused spaces, improving biodiversity and promoting environmentally focused actions.

Participants can apply to one programme at a time:

- Capability Building: a flexible series of masterclasses to develop skills, confidence and entrepreneurial mindset across three themes, with places offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Ideation: workshops and mentoring to support early-stage ideas.
- Pre-Commercialisation: support for those with more developed ideas, including expert mentoring and peer learning.

Digitalisation support for social enterprises in NI

A new programme will support social enterprises in Northern Ireland to strengthen their digital presence, including websites, strategy and use of AI.

Delivered by Social Enterprise NI (SENI) with support from the Department for the Economy and in partnership with Lockview, it will work with four organisations to improve website performance, user experience and digital processes.

Participants will develop a clear digital strategy, create or upgrade an income-focused website, and build confidence in using digital and AI tools.
