The T:BUC Camps Programme is a headline action described in the Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC) strategy for young people aged 11-19 years of age.
The T:BUC Camps Programme is funded by The Executive Office, and administered by the Education Authority (EA).
The camps challenge historic positions, encourage debate and discussion and provide a way for young people to get to know each other, try new experiences, have fun and help to build longer term relationships.
Camps are delivered on a cross- community basis. From 2015 around 570 camps have been delivered to over 20,000 young people.
As well as T:BUC Camps, The Executive Office also funds the Planned Interventions Programme which is administered by the Education Authority.
Delivered annually as part of the Executive’s wider ‘Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC)’ Strategy, the Planned Interventions Programme provides funding for community activity to divert young people from anti-social and potentially criminal behaviour around contentious parades and public assemblies and to deal with heightened tension around interfaces during the summer period.
In 2018/19 seventy five groups were awarded funding to deliver planned interventions projects to just under 5,000 young people and in 2019/20 eighty two groups were awarded funding. Groups can be awarded a maximum of £6k per project.
