๐Ÿชจ ๐€๐ง๐ง๐š๐ ๐ก๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐‚๐š๐ข๐ซ๐ง ๐Ÿชจ

Did you know that one of the best-preserved court tombs in Ireland can be found at Annaghmare? Dating back to the Late Neolithic period, ๐€๐ง๐ง๐š๐ ๐ก๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐‚๐š๐ข๐ซ๐ง has survived for thousands of years and still retains many of its original features.

The tomb was excavated in 1963โ€“64, revealing a large horseshoe-shaped forecourt enclosed by impressive standing stones, some reaching almost 2 metres high. Beyond the entrance, marked by two portal stones, lies a 7-metre-long gallery divided into three chambers.

The surrounding cairn is trapezoidal in shape, measuring 20 metres long, and archaeological excavations uncovered Late Neolithic pottery, flint tools and cremated human bone, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives and burial practices of people who lived over 4,000 years ago.

๐€๐ง๐ง๐š๐ ๐ก๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐‚๐š๐ข๐ซ๐ง remains a powerful reminder of Ireland's rich archaeological heritage and the skilled builders who created monuments that continue to endure millennia later.
