Our trail cameras have been catching glimpses of some of Ravine’s range of local wildlife, from curious badgers and busy mice to otters, squirrels and plenty of other creatures moving throughout the conservation site🦡🐭🦦🐿️

We’re thrilled to invite you and your child to join us for a spooktacular Halloween at The Ravine! 🎃🍂

Following the success of our Kids Summer Explore programme, we’re excited to announce two different Halloween events for children and families this October.
Choose from Muddy Tots Halloween or Explore Halloween – each offering a unique nature-based Halloween experience at The Ravine Nature Reserve.

🎃 Muddy Tots Halloween

Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th October

Our Halloween-themed Muddy Tots sessions are designed for younger children and their parents/guardians to explore, play and get stuck into some Halloween fun together.

Choose from:

Morning: 9am–11am

Afternoon: 1pm–3pm

Each two-hour session begins at the Ravine Offices, where families will meet our Muddy Tots leader before heading through the nature reserve to our specially transformed Neolithic Campsite.
Children will have plenty of opportunities for free play, exploration and Halloween-themed activities, while enjoying the outdoors and making new friends.

Tickets: £15 per child

Parents/guardians stay with their children throughout the session.

🦇 Explore Halloween

Thursday 29th, Friday 30th & Saturday 31st October

For children aged 6–10, our Explore Halloween event is a larger, activity-filled nature-based Halloween experience, combining outdoor exploration, games, crafts and plenty of spooky fun!
Choose from:

Morning: 9am–12pm

Afternoon: 1pm–4pm

Led by our Education Team, children will explore the nature reserve and take part in a range of Halloween-themed nature activities, crafts and games before making their way to our specially transformed Neolithic Campsite. Combining outdoor education with Halloween fun!

Tickets: £15 per child

Parents/guardians are welcome to explore Ravine during the workshop but do not need to stay for the session. Drop-off and collection will take place at our cabin offices.

With nature as their teacher, children at Muddy tots learn valuable life skills, connect with the environment, and develop a profound appreciation for the world around them. Activities include; Muddy Kitchen / Potion Making, Clay animal Making, Wild Painting, Nature Wands and more!

Each session lasts for two hours, giving your child ample time to explore the Neolithic Campsite, engage in free play, and create lasting memories with newfound friends. The adventure begins as parents and kids are warmly greeted by our Muddy Tots leader at the Ravine Offices, and together, they journey through the Ravine nature reserve to the Neolithic Campsite for the Workshop.

Grey herons have an average lifespan of 5 years, although they can live for more than 20 years in the wild. That means the heron caught on our trail camera could have been exploring Northern Ireland's wetlands for decades!

The oldest in recorded in the UK was an impressive 23 years and 9 months🐦‍⬛

Discover the wild food growing all around us! Join us at Ravine this September for a relaxed, practical introduction to the fascinating world of foraging🌱

Explore our nature reserve and market garden while learning how to:
