On 6th May four OCdts from QUOTC were part of a 21 gun Royal Salute fired by 206 (Ulster) Battery Royal Artiillery at Hillsborough Castle. This was to mark the third anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty the King. 👑

Over the weekend, Officer Cadets from QUOTC travelled to Edinburgh for the sporting competition, Exercise Northern Lights!

From hockey and rugby, to football and tug of war, it was a weekend of competition. A fantastic effort from everyone involved!

Well done to our drill dream for claiming the win and congratulations to all OCdts who took part.

To the City of Edinburgh UOTC congratulations for taking the overall win 🏆

To mark the event our Officer Cadets held a parade over the weekend to remember the origin and importance of the day where they received their shamrock and our Somme Company received their caubeens, signifying the completion of their first year in the UOTC.

Last weekend QUOTC Officer Cadets attended a Saluting Guns Course hosted by 206 (Ulster) Battery. Over the course Officer Cadets learnt about ceremonial drills and the L118 light gun.

Upon completion of the course, an assessment was carried out to allow them to take part in official duties involving gun salutes.

2025 was an action packed year for the Officer Cadets at QUOTC.

From starting the year skiing in France, ADX in England, Exercise, Northern Strike in Michigan, a silver medal in the Cambrian Patrol to ending the year skiing again in France! QUOTC met its motto of “friendship, adventure and teamwork” in 2025 by sending its Officer Cadets all over the world from North America and Chile to Cyprus and Bavaria.

To close 2025, 32 officer cadets from QUOTC, GSUOTC and CEUOTC attended Exercise Cadet Queen’s Chamois, a week long expedition to gain their SF1 or SF2 qualification in La Plagne. Over the week officer cadets enhanced their knowledge and skills of leadership, communication and ability to ski both on piste and off piste.

A massive thank you to , ATATG and for funding this trip to allow the officer cadets to experience the adventure.

Festivities and socials are important within our training year as it gives officer cadets the chance to build friendships and connect with others!
