Rose was a much-loved part of the Good Morning Colin family, and we would love you to join us for a special fundraising Coffee Morning in her memory.

This will be a chance to come together, share memories, enjoy a cuppa and remember a wonderful friend who meant so much to so many of us.

All funds raised will be in aid of Marie Curie.

We hope as many of Rose’s friends, fellow volunteers and members of our community as possible can join us as we remember her with great fondness. 💛

A lovely morning at the Colin Allotments & Healthy Living Centre today 🌱

We were delighted to welcome from BBC Radio Ulster Gardeners’ Corner, who had a walk around the allotments and chatted with site manager, Michael McCrorry, along with some of our volunteers, about what’s growing, the work that goes into the site and the difference the allotments make to the local community.

It was great to share some of the stories behind the allotments and showcase the work happening there week in, week out.

Good Morning Colin is looking for volunteers to join the team and help us continue supporting older and vulnerable people across the Colin area.

We’re looking for people who may have a few hours free on any morning Monday to Friday and would like to get involved in meaningful community work.

You’ll receive:

- Personal development and valuable experience

Halloween can be great fun, but it also brings a number of risks for children and families. 🎃

We’re encouraging parents and carers to take a few extra precautions this Halloween, particularly around candles, costumes, sweets, sparklers, fireworks and supervision.

Please take a few minutes to read through our Halloween Safety Tips for Parents and make sure children are closely supervised throughout the celebrations.

A little preparation can help prevent accidents and keep Halloween safe for everyone.

Another productive Thursday at the Colin Allotments & Healthy Living Centre 🌿

Volunteers were busy making more wildlife nesting boxes, while others tackled the slightly more complicated job of putting together a new polytunnel, kindly donated by Foodstock - Community Solidarity Hub, while a sealed composter was also assembled and ready for use.

After all that work, there was homemade pumpkin soup, beef stew and freshly baked bread to enjoy. 🥣🍞

Next week, the group will be heading out into the Colin area for a community clean-up.

Fancy getting involved? If you’re interested in the natural environment, gardening or growing your own food, call in on a Thursday from 10am.

A great way to get outdoors, meet people and do something positive for the local area. 💚

The programme, managed by West Belfast Partnership, includes community renewal, health & wellbeing and environmental improvement across West Belfast.

Week 5 of our Calm & Connected Mums 6-week wellness programme was all about getting creative 🍁💚

This week, the mums made their own autumn wreaths from scratch using willow and dogbane. It was a little tricky to begin with, but once everyone got the hang of it, the creativity really started to flow, with plenty of autumn and Halloween decorations added along the way. The finished wreaths looked absolutely beautiful! 🎃🍂

A big thank you to Mick from Colin Allotments & Healthy Living Centre for another brilliant workshop.

The programme is delivered in partnership with Colin Neighbourhood Partnership, Colin Sure Start and Holistic Mums Mums, working together to support mums in the Colin area. 💙

After the brilliant turnout and fantastic feedback from last year, we’re delighted to announce that our Halloween Funday is returning to Colin Connect Transport Hub on Thursday 29 October from 3-6pm.

Expect another afternoon packed with Halloween fun, including a petting farm, pumpkin patch, carnival rides, fire breathers, bouncy castle, arts & crafts and plenty more. 🎃🔥

🚨 URGENT FOOD DONATION APPEAL 🚨

We’ve teamed up with South-West Belfast foodbank to help provide emergency food for local people and families who are struggling.

We’re urgently asking for donations of everyday essentials, including pasta sauces, tinned meat and fish, tinned fruit and vegetables, UHT milk, long-life fruit juice, rice, biscuits, tea, coffee and toiletries.

Even a few items can make a real difference. 💚
