Happy World Environment Day! 🌍
As we head into summer, we’re proud to share the progress we’re making towards a greener future. From energy‑efficient new homes to smarter energy use, here’s how we’re reducing our environmental impact while creating better homes and communities for our customers.
✅Build to EPC A
We build all our new homes to the highest energy-efficiency standards, with key features such as solar panels, high-performance glazing, and low-energy lighting. In 2026, we delivered our first EPC A rated scheme, Deerpark Lodge, Antrim. A landmark moment for Clanmil and a new benchmark for our developments.
✅EPC C by 2030
88.3% of Clanmil homes already meet EPC C or above, with an average SAP rating of 77.3 (band C). We're installing insulation, modern heating systems, and solar panels across our least efficient homes to reach our 2030 target.
✅Carbon Footprint Tracking
We published our first Carbon Footprint report this year, covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This baseline puts us in a strong position to measure, reduce, and ultimately reach Net Zero by 2050.
✅Heritage Property Improvement
Retrofitting historic listed buildings requires care and expertise. We've begun sensitive upgrades across some of our most significant heritage properties – and every Clanmil home now meets the Decent Homes Standard for thermal efficiency.
✅Reduced Energy Consumption
We’re reducing energy consumption across the business, and have achieved an 11% reduction in communal electricity consumption since our base year. We’ve also converted a number of housing schemes from communal heating to individual high-efficiency electric heating systems, giving customers more control over their energy usage.
✅Responsible Procurement
100% of our communal electricity comes from renewable sources. We conduct an annual procurement exercise for electricity and gas to deliver best value for customers and help address fuel poverty.
✅Solar PV Roll-Out
Since 2024, we’ve installed Solar PV at 4 schemes and many more individual homes, generating clean, renewable electricity and reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. We monitor the savings achieved from these installations and apply these savings to the scheme’s service charges.
✅Young Growers
Our first Young Growers programme at Harmony Court gave young Clanmil customers hands-on gardening experience – growing fruit and vegetables, building wildlife habitats, and discovering a love of nature. It won't be the last.
