What a day……..

Being very honest I didn’t think that I would be able to write this post as everyone knows my time at Nettlefield is coming to a close.

BUT.

ITS OFFICIAL

It’s coming home!!!!!!!!!

Nope, not the World Cup! THE LIGHTHOUSE!!!!

Today, when we should have had KS2 Sports Day, I had the immense pleasure of being able to welcome representatives from the Education Authority and Collins Rolston Architects to view our school and gather information and evidence to prepare the multi stage journey to bringing the lighthouse back to Nettlefield.

There are multiple steps to the process but we are hopeful that a restored lighthouse that will be as historically accurate as possible will be returned to Nettlefield.

Watch this space!!! 🤩

Parents/Carers

I have spent the morning speaking with both the PSNI and EA in relation to social media posts calling for disorder today. I have also spoken with other principals in the area and have decided to *close school today from 11.30am*. Many parents have already contacted the school and are on route to collect their children. We understand that is hugely inconvenient but in the interests of safeguarding our pupils and staff we feel this is the correct decision.

🌧 Rain stops play 🌧
P6 and P7 girls took part in the NCU Cricket tournament today in Friends Lisburn. Unfortunately, due to weather, the tournament got called off early.

The girls had started to play some great cricket and showed some superb bowling and fielding skills. It was great to see us giving a new sport a go! Well done girls, another tournament next week 😀

Today our boys travelled to Friend's School Lisburn to take part in the NCU Cricket finals against schools from all over Northern Ireland.🏏

The boys played super and showed great teamwork especially when fielding. With 2 wins and 2 loses, unfortunately it was not enough to advance into the semi finals.

Heads up lads, you were brilliant! Next up are the girls tomorrow❗
