Making plans to join us this weekend at ?

The All-Ireland competitions will begin today & over the rest of the weekend & visitor numbers will increase, so please ensure you plan ahead if you are coming into the city.

Additional late-night bus and train services from Translink will operate from this evening (Thursday 6 August), as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday night - helpful if you are coming along to The Gig Rig late sesssion!

Here are some reminders:

🔹Roads directly in front of and to the sides of City Hall – Wellington Place, Donegall Square North, Donegall Square East and Donegall Square West –are closed to all traffic.

🔹These roads are already included in the purple area of our map here, and marked in our visitor maps for the event - available from Fleadh venues, volunteer and info points.

🔹These roads will now remain closed until the event ends late on Sunday 9 August.

🔹The lower end of Chichester Street, along with Donegall Square South (directly behind City Hall), will remain open. Take care in these areas, use road crossings and follow the directions of event stewards and volunteers.

🚎What about buses and taxis?
🔹There will be adjustments to some Translink pick-up and drop-off points as a result, along with service diversions in place for the rest of the week.

🔹Passengers are encouraged to follow the advice of staff and volunteers and to keep updated via the Translink website and the Journey Planner app.

🔹Plan ahead, expect services to be busy and leave extra time for your journey. Don't forget about Park and Ride sites too - available at Eikon Exhibition Centre, Giant's Park and Belfast Harbour - for those travelling in from outside the city.

🔹With thousands of additional passenger journeys already made this week, Translink have added enhanced capacity and frequency across the public transport network, and will continue to monitor demand as the event continues.

🔹Public hire taxis – who currently use the ranks at Donegall Square North and Donegall Square East – can make use of Upper Arthur Street and back onto Chichester Street for the next available rank.

🔹Private taxis are using designated pick-up and drop-off points around the pedestrian zone to collect fares. These are all listed on our council website - belfastcity.gov.uk/fleadh

🏟️Gig Rig | Performances include Clonduff Trad Orchestra, St Roch's Big Band and Conor Mallon Band- all free!

🎪 All afternoon | Fringe festival: The entire city is alive with roaming street performers including The Mitchell Family Recital at 2 Royal Avenue, Late Night Art at The MAC & Introduction to Irish Language at Belfast Barge!

🍔 All day | Visit the Food Village at Belfast Cathedral, drop by the Merchandise Hub with various eateries at Writer's Square or enjoy extended hours at St George's Market, Belfast all week - live music here too!

🍝The 'Craic & Craft Market' at the ICC Belfast will also have 45 local artisan food and drink producers and street food trucks with lots of children's activities too!

Day 4 of - what a buzz! 👏✨🪕

The mid-week momentum has officially broken the scale, with sunshine, (the odd shower of rain!), and non-stop street sessions transforming the city centre into a massive, open-air celebration of music and culture🤩

We are overwhelmed with the energy in the city - let's keep it going!

Beyond our main stage at City Hall, a massive fringe festival is taking place right across the city!

Our video shows the diversity on offer & the array of community-driven events that expand the music festival across all corners of Belfast - thanks to our partners MayWe& The Duncairn 😍

Intimate gigs from The Vibes at Oh Yeah Centre, Cora Harkin in 2 Royal Avenue & Enda McCabe in Black Box are just a few!

Other major neighbourhood-wide fringe events include:

✨Trad in Bullhouse East, Free, Thursday 6 August at 8.30pm
✨North Block Night Market at Crumlin Road Gaol, Friday 7 August at 7pm
✨Beat Carnival at Flaxx Social Space, Saturday 8 August, 2pm-4pm
✨Sing Happy Choir at Victoria Square, Sunday 9 August at 11am.

🪗Seven open-mic style spaces across the city for pop-up music performances - located at 2 Royal Avenue, Castle Place, Donegall Quay/Big Fish, Castle Court, Corn Market, the Assembly Rooms and ICC Belfast.

🎈 For kids: Trad trails, carnival acts, Irish dancers, daily youth seisiúns and dedicated arts & crafts at Castle Place and 2 Royal Avenue.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒The Irish Language Hub at The MAC will also have entertainment and events for families, delivered through Irish, including storytelling, films and circus skills!

🍟Refuel & relax: Visit the Food Village at Belfast Cathedral, drop by the Merchandise Hub with various eateries at Writers' Square, or enjoy extended hours at St George's Market, Belfast

🧠Beyond the music: Heritage lectures, instrument-making workshops daily at Belfast Met, and art exhibitions city-wide - also don't forget about events in our local libraries and galleries too!📚

Visitors are flocking to , with total footfall of over 176,000 for our big opening day on Sunday!

Yesterday saw further figures of 165,000, making the event a major draw for both residents and visitors alike.

To help keep things running smoothly - and with a further five days of music and events still to come, including All-Ireland competitions from Thursday to Sunday - the pedestrianised event zone will now be extended to support people to move around the Fleadh safely:
