Making plans to join us this weekend at ?
The All-Ireland competitions will begin today & over the rest of the weekend & visitor numbers will increase, so please ensure you plan ahead if you are coming into the city.
Additional late-night bus and train services from Translink will operate from this evening (Thursday 6 August), as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday night - helpful if you are coming along to The Gig Rig late sesssion!
Here are some reminders:
🔹Roads directly in front of and to the sides of City Hall – Wellington Place, Donegall Square North, Donegall Square East and Donegall Square West –are closed to all traffic.
🔹These roads are already included in the purple area of our map here, and marked in our visitor maps for the event - available from Fleadh venues, volunteer and info points.
🔹These roads will now remain closed until the event ends late on Sunday 9 August.
🔹The lower end of Chichester Street, along with Donegall Square South (directly behind City Hall), will remain open. Take care in these areas, use road crossings and follow the directions of event stewards and volunteers.
🚎What about buses and taxis?
🔹There will be adjustments to some Translink pick-up and drop-off points as a result, along with service diversions in place for the rest of the week.
🔹Passengers are encouraged to follow the advice of staff and volunteers and to keep updated via the Translink website and the Journey Planner app.
🔹Plan ahead, expect services to be busy and leave extra time for your journey. Don't forget about Park and Ride sites too - available at Eikon Exhibition Centre, Giant's Park and Belfast Harbour - for those travelling in from outside the city.
🔹With thousands of additional passenger journeys already made this week, Translink have added enhanced capacity and frequency across the public transport network, and will continue to monitor demand as the event continues.
🔹Public hire taxis – who currently use the ranks at Donegall Square North and Donegall Square East – can make use of Upper Arthur Street and back onto Chichester Street for the next available rank.
🔹Private taxis are using designated pick-up and drop-off points around the pedestrian zone to collect fares. These are all listed on our council website - belfastcity.gov.uk/fleadh
Thanks again to all our residents, volunteers, city centre stakeholders & visitors for their co-operation so far - we hope you are enjoying !
