🎨 Belfast-made PABLO: NEXT LEVEL is taking inclusivity to the classroom!

Produced by Belfast’s Paper Owl Films and Crayola Studios, Pablo: Next Level follows autistic hero Pablo as he starts school — using humour, creativity and authentic experiences to help children understand and celebrate minds of all kinds.

Written and performed by young autistic talent, the new 40-episode series puts autistic voices and perspectives centre stage, championing empathy, understanding and inclusion for young audiences around the world. 🌍💛

Huge congratulations to the cast and creative team behind Skintown, winner of the Sean Connery Prize for Feature Filmmaking Excellence at the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival! 👏

Voted for by festival audiences, Kieron J. Walsh’s film was selected from 10 feature-length world premieres competing for the festival’s top prize.

Set in Northern Ireland during the summer of 1994, Skintown follows best friends Vinny and Jonty as they dream of escaping Enniskillen — until a life-changing turn of events forces them to confront a very different future.

Written by Ciaran McMenamin and adapted from his novel, the film stars Jack Rowan, Chris Walley, Jamie Lee O’Donnell and Hope Ikpoku Jnr.

BFI Film Academy has announced 12 new Hubs across the UK for 2026–29, creating more opportunities for young people to access training, develop their skills and explore careers in the screen industries.

In Northern Ireland, the new Hub will be delivered by Nerve Centre with support from Northern Ireland Screen.

This week’s Archive at 25 pick comes from Ewen Friers, bassist with Northern Irish instrumental rock band 'And So I Watch You From Afar', whose directorial debut I’ve Never Said This (2026) was created using footage from the Digital Film Archive.

Reflecting on the process, Ewen describes a creative "lightbulb moment" that transformed the film and reinforced the importance of screen heritage—not just for understanding the Ulster of the past, but for inspiring the stories of today.

🎬 Train the Trainer Programme – Expressions of Interest Now Open

Northern Ireland Screen, supported by BFI is inviting screen industry professionals to apply for a practical two-day Train the Trainer Programme.

Develop your training, facilitation and presentation skills, and gain the tools and confidence to design and deliver engaging and impactful training within the screen sector.

📅 14 & 15 December 2026
📍 Belfast City Centre – venue TBC

The programme will cover planning and structuring training sessions, effective communication and presentation, facilitating group learning, managing engagement, and delivering training with confidence.
