It was a privilege to speak on central FM today about the Scottish Government’s latest figures highlighting the rising number of pupils experiencing mental health difficulties.

It comes after new data shows a sharp rise in the number of children who need extra help.
More than 15,000 pupils across Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire are classed as having additional needs.
Kerry McGhee is from Love Care - a social business that works in education”.
These statistics reinforce what practitioners and families already know — that children’s wellbeing must be at the heart of our education system.
This is central to our commitments under The Promise and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which require us to listen to children, uphold their right to support, and ensure schools are places of safety, inclusion and care.
Investing in early, rights-based and trauma-informed support is essential if we are to meet these commitments. 🙌🏼🩷
