This weekend a team of five cadets from 1016 Berwick took part in the annual AT challenge. They completed a 17km walk carrying all of their kit on day one, then did mountain biking, archery, first aid and orienteering. All the cadets thoroughly enjoyed it and are excited to do again next year.

Well done to our first four cadets to pass the new RAFAC Blue Drone Course held at 1016 Sqn. They studied drone academics and law, and practiced the hand-eye coordination required to successfully pilot a small drone. In doing so, they have gained their Civil Aviation Authority 'Flyer ID', which allows them to fly drones outside, and have opened the door to more advanced drone training within our Wing and Region. The course was made possible through purchase of drone equipment funded by a kind donation from the High Sheriff of Northumberland

Cadets from 1016 Squadron joined the nation in remembering those who defended our freedoms and continue to do so today. After beginning at Wallace Green church, the squadron made their way up to the Castlegate memorial alongside hundreds of members of the public, veterans, current serving personnel, local dignitaries and other organisations for the Service of Remembrance.

After a quick stop at a well known burger establishment, some of them opted to show their dedication by joining 1801 (Alnwick) Sqn at the memorial in Alnwick. We are immensely proud of all of the cadets who gave so much of their time to activities including poppy collecting, wreath laying, and the Remembrance Sunday parade. The cadets are fully aware of what the commemorations represent, and carried themselves with dignity and respect.
