Berwick Blue Watch and Retained crew took part in a Road Traffic Collision exercise on Thursday night. The scenario was a mini bus full of children involved in a collision with a car. Crew were required to complete a 10 second triage of the minibus casualties and then move onto releasing the casualties from the car.

Our fantastic fire cadets assisted as live casualties on the mini bus and really got involved by acting out their injuries. We were also joined by Seahouses Community Fire Station who acted as our 2nd appliance in attendance.

Huge thank you to Borders Buses for providing the bus!!

Completing exercises like this ensures that our crews are ready for action at a moments notice!

Berwicks retained crew all have full time jobs and make their way to the station as soon as they safely can, when our pagers activate.

Training for the crew happens every Thursday night and it’s unheard of to have every single member of the crew there as many of us work shifts or have family commitments to take care of.

Well last night all 14 of us were on station and it was too good an opportunity to miss!
