Water Safety Day at Kelsey Gardens, HU12 9HU : Sat 29 Aug 10:00
Operation Lifestyle - Team Water Wardens are hosting a Family Fun Day on 29th August 2026 10:00-16:00 hours at Kelsey Lakes and Gardens, Burstwick, HU12 9HU. All are welcome.

The event is to highlight water safety and there will be demonstrations and talks from Humberside Fire and Rescue, RNLI and First Aiders throughout the day. Learn valuable skills and see real life saving in action.

Reduced price kayaking, BBQ and water games for all ages.

All funds raised by the team will be used to provide life saving equipment and water safety training. Three amazing young ladies making a difference in their community.

The Parish Council is pleased to have been informed that the proposed development at Raich Carter Way in Dunswell has been withdrawn. Cllrs shared many residents concerns for the impact of this development and hope this is now the end of this proposal

The Parish Council is pleased to see work commencing on the zebra crossing at Keldmarsh School - this was first raised by Parish Cllr Roy Begg at a residents meeting last year with Officers from ERYC.

The Parish Council will continue to push for improved safety at all the schools in the Parish and we were promised a meeting with Highways when Jocks Lodge was completed as ERYC felt the increased volumes of traffic were a direct result of the project.

The Parish Council has received the latest update on Spark Mill Lane

I am writing to update you on the feedback to the wider public consultation on the proposals for Spark Mill Lane and next steps.

The work is progressing following the analysis of all feedback received to the public consultation carried out in June and July.

You will have received an email from our Civil Engineering Services team on the expected works programme and traffic management by now.

CES are sending a further letter to adjacent residents to provide information on the works, which residents should receive next week.

Consultation results

We had a good response rate to the online consultation with 310 respondents. There was overwhelming majority support for all the scheme proposals as follows:

Surface improvements = 98.7% support
Lighting = 97.4% support
Access rights for cyclists = 79.8% support
Bollards = 89.0% support
Bins = 97.4% support

Therefore, the Council will be progressing the majority of proposals due to the safety, security and connectivity benefits they will provide, including for wheelchair users and mobility scooters.

Bollards

Although there is majority support for the bollards overall, in light of concerns raised by allotment tenants, we are omitting the bollards on Woodmansey Way/Beverley Parklands.

We are not expecting the level of motor traffic to increase between Beverley Parklands since this section is already tarmacked so it would seem a shame to change the status quo at this time.

We would, however, monitor the situation and future correspondence and, if traffic became a problem, we may have to revisit this in the future.

The 2 other locations proposed for the bollards would go ahead as proposed.

Unfortunately we have to report vandalism at the playground on Kings Street. One of the toddler swings has been cut away at both sides.

This has been reported to the police and if anyone has any information on this please let us know - this is wanton vandalism of a facility paid for by taxpayers in the Parish and any support in dealing with those responsible would be appreciated. Your name will not be mentioned when we pass on information to the police. Thank you

At the July meeting of the Parish Council, the latest Community Grant was awarded to the Dunswell Village Institute Sports Hall

Woodmansey Parish Cllrs are proud to continue to support local community groups in our wonderful Parish, and over the years of its operation, the scheme has provided funds such bodies as the three schools, St Peters Church, the scouts and Men in Sheds.

At the July Meeting of the Parish Council, we said goodbye to Cllr Harry Bulmer, who has left us to start university in September. Harry has been an important part of the council, for most of this time as Deputy Chair and his knowledge and contribution will be sorely missed.

Chair Kerri Harold spoke for all Cllrs when she thanked Harry for his hard work over the years and wished him the very best and every success with his studies and future.

1 River bank been lifted on hull side (Dunswell)
Concerns that the river bank up has been built up as part of the Kingswood housing development (on a flood plain) and concerns this will put Dunswell residents at risk

Concerns that there is no apparent planning permission for this

Concerns that the Planning Application will not go to Planning Committee (despite the strong objection from the Parish Council) and instead has been given delegated authority to the Planning Officer

The Parish Council is very pleased to announce that it has been successful in applying for a ERYC Commuted Sums Grant to install new brand new toddler outdoor playground at Dunswell Village Institute Sports Hall 😍😍🥰🥰

This will be sited near the school and we hope the children will love this new facility on the way to and home from school. We apologise in advance to parents of children not wanting to go to school and stay on the playground🤣🤣.

Work will begin shortly and we shall keep you up to date on progress.

Cllrs would like to thank the Commuted Sums team at ERYC for all their help, advice and support in this application 👍

This week the Parish Council has been notified of a proposed Zebra Crossing at Keldmarsh school. This was first raised by one of our Parish Cllrs at a residents meeting last year attended by ERYC Engineers, the three school Heads and the Police and Cllrs are pleased to hear that ERYC are actioning one of our requests.

Highways issues and road safety remain a key priority for the Parish Council and Cllrs are hoping for the attendance of Highways Officer at our July meeting to pick up on some outstanding matters.
