🔒 Simple steps such as locking doors and windows, using security lighting, and keeping valuables out of sight can help protect your home.

📱 The Crime and Policing Act 2026 gives police new powers to recover electronically tracked stolen property more quickly, helping to tackle crimes such as burglary and theft.

📢 Final week of CACT's Summer Youth Sessions! ☀️

There's still time for young people aged 10-18 to get involved in Charlton Athletic Community Trust's free Summer Youth Sessions across Bexley.

Whether you're into sport, music, gaming or just looking to meet new people, there's something for everyone:

Sessions run Monday to Friday, 1pm-5pm at locations across the borough:

Last Friday, Councillor Bishop, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, joined us and the FazAmnesty Van in Thamesmead to support the safe and anonymous disposal of knives and bladed articles.

Every weapon surrendered is a step towards a safer community. Alongside the knife surrender scheme, partners spoke with residents about local safety issues, shared advice and free safety materials, and enjoyed some games in the ball court with community members.

By working together to prevent harm before it happens, we can help keep Bexley one of London's safest boroughs.

Youth Diversion Orders (YDOs) are a new measure under the Crime and Policing Act 2026 designed to help divert young people away from terrorism-related offending through early intervention and support 🧒

🤔 What is a Youth Diversion Order?

A YDO can be used to support and manage a young person involved in terrorism-related activity, helping to reduce the risk of future harm while avoiding unnecessary involvement in the wider criminal justice system where appropriate 🛡️

🤝 The aim is to provide early intervention, safeguard vulnerable young people, and help steer them towards a safer future.

Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) is now a specific offence under the Crime and Policing Act 2026.

🤔 What is Child Criminal Exploitation?

🤐 CCE is a form of abuse where an adult grooms, coerces, manipulates or exploits a child into criminal activity, often linked to county lines drug dealing, theft, violence, or other offences.

⚖️ Adults who exploit children in this way can now face up to 10 years' imprisonment. The Act also introduces CCE Prevention Orders to help protect children from further exploitation.

🔭 How can we spot the signs...
• Unexplained money, gifts, clothes or mobile phones
• Going missing from home or school
• Sudden changes in behaviour or friendships
• Increased secrecy or signs of intimidation and control
