Chiltern Railways Travel advice extended due to extreme heat
With red weather warnings in place and a significant risk of damage to the railway infrastructure, Chiltern Railways and Network Rail have taken the decision to continue operating a significantly reduced timetable until and including Friday 27 June. On some routes, fewer than 50% of normal services will operate.
As a result, we are strongly advising customers to avoid travelling unless their journey is absolutely necessary. Trains that do run are expected to be very busy and may experience significant delays.
Customers holding tickets for travel on Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 or Friday 27 June may use them on Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 June instead. Customers who no longer wish to travel can apply for a full refund from their point of purchase.
If travel is essential, we encourage customers to carry water, stay hydrated, check their journey before travelling, and follow any instructions provided by station and onboard staff.
We expect this advice to remain in place until at least the end of Friday and will continue to monitor conditions closely.
