Last night at drill we simulated a road traffic collision with two trapped persons including a live casualty.

Training wise we focused on Ff Brock’s development, with him demonstrating several key competencies:

• A dashboard roll which is a technique used to free entrapment involving the lower limbs

• Opening up locked or damaged car doors with different techniques

• Full roof removal

• Casualty centred approach to extrication and leading the removal of the casualty

Ff Brock said ‘This was a fantastic training session with some valuable learning outcomes and progress towards completing my development programme’.

Not every Tuesday drill night goes to plan, but this week was a rare evening without any incident call outs, giving the crew a chance to reset after a busy period and enjoy some well-earned refreshments.

We really appreciate the kindness and support from our community ❤️

Jay also got the opportunity to take a tour of the station, learn more about what we do and experience sitting in the front of one of our fire appliances.

Prevent agricultural fires 🔥🚜
Farmers, by following a few simple steps, you can help mitigate the risk of fire on your farm.
• Check conditions + consult the Fire Severity Index before planning harvesting activities –
• This will help you identify the best time of day to start your harvesting. You can view the Fire Severity Index by visiting https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/328554206f114fc98c707bfc1b880cf7.
• Regular maintenance – Ensure that your equipment is clean and maintained before every harvest activity.
• Help us find you – Provide an accurate location and description of the entrance of your farm to Thames Valley Fire Control Service and wait for firefighters to arrive. You can use what3words
• Know where your water supplies are – Ensure that any available water supplies on your farm are accessible to fire and rescue crews.
• Have contingency arrangements in place – Consider using cultivators to put in fire breaks where safe to do so. If you have water bowsers available to extinguish spot fires ensure that they are near and full of water.
• Store safe – Where possible avoid storing bales near main roads to deter would-be trespassers and arsonists.

Some areas of Oxfordshire, particularly near Bicester, are experiencing low water pressure.

As a fire and rescue service, we know how important a reliable water supply is when responding to emergencies. While this situation isn't affecting our ability to respond, we're supporting efforts to help reduce demand during the current hot weather.

But even on a hot day, the water can be dangerously cold, causing cold water shock in seconds.

Fifteen young people across the country have already lost their lives this summer.

🏃‍♂️ HE DID IT! 👨‍🚒
A massive round of applause for our very own Jamie, who smashed the London Marathon yesterday! 🏅

Jamie crossed the finish line with an incredible official time of 3 hours and 22 minutes. We couldn’t be prouder of the dedication he’s shown throughout his training and on the course itself.
