A delightful high Victorian garden -- an extraordinary survival from the 19th century. Travel through time as the gallery depicts the Creation story.

This amazing Victorian garden was created by James Bateman for his collection of plants from around the world. A visit takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen. The garden features collections of rhododendrons, summer bedding displays, a stunning dahlia walk in late summer and the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain, brought from China in the 1850s. In the Geological Gallery see how Bateman reconciled geology and theology.

Ghastly goings on with The Confessions of Sweeney Todd at Biddulph Grange Garden.
Don't Go Into the Cellar returns with their one man show recounting the tales of the infamous barber of Fleet Street. Be thre if you dare!

Tickets £20 available from www.nationaltrust.org.uk/biddulphgrange or telephone 0344 249 1895. Performance takes place in the Drawing Room, at 6pm.

Considering the extreme periods of drought and scorching temperatures that our summer provided, our Dahlias have actually settled very well into their late summer-autumn phase and are now flowering prolifically. For an autumn wander, why not visit and experience the Dahlia walk with it's vibrant colour and variety of flower forms, all neatly presented in our sharply cut yew bays.

With the spooky season approaching, these felt decorations are perfect to bring a playful touch to seasonal Halloween styling. Handmade from 100% wool felt by artisans in Nepal, they reflects traditional craft techniques and careful attention to detail. Produced under Fair Trade conditions, they support disadvantaged and marginalised producers while offering a sustainable approach to seasonal decorating. The design makes them suitable for display in a variety of indoor spaces during the Halloween season. We also have a range of other suitably spectral goodies available. We are open daily from 11am and you don't need to be a member to shop here.

Our historic Verbena Parterre has been planted with summer bedding for many years but the decision was recently made to replant it with various species of Verbena, faithfully restoring the area's identity. This was of course much to the delight of all kinds of insects due to the high amount of nectar and pollen these plants provide.

In a rapidly changing climate, the already very popular and tenacious Verbena Bonariensis is one of many staple garden plants that have truly proven their worth as a mainstay addition in these times of extreme heat and drought.
