We'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who have worked with the ranger team so far this year.
We've now started our Autumn programme of events and the sun has still been shining as we work to improve the meadow habitats around the local area. Next Wednesday we'll be in Bideford managing the wildflower verges around the old cattle market. Let the ranger team know if you would like to join in!

Volunteering is a wonderful way of meeting new people, learning new skills and contributing to vital conservation work in the local area.

It's looking a little cloudier this week but will it rain?!

Come along to the Northam Burrows visitor centre for a wonderful weather event - This Tuesday 25th August the rangers and visitor centre team will be helping people to learn about weather forecasting with a fun trail and craft activities. Check out our new weather station (thank you North Devon Coast National Landscape for part funding this!) and learn how to measure the weather and predict what is on it's way.

On Thursday we'll hope for sunshine for photo orienteering - follow the trail to find the animals and learn all about map reading. Can you make your own map?

All events take place between 2pm and 4pm and are free to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No booking required.

Would you know what to do if you were struggling in the water?

Float to Live could save your life:

๐Ÿ”น Tilt your head back with ears submerged
๐Ÿ”น Relax, breathe normally and move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat
๐Ÿ”น It's ok if your legs sink, we all float differently
๐Ÿ”น Once you're over the initial shock, call for help or swim to safety

Remember it. Practise it. Share it. ๐Ÿ’™

The rangers are continuing their programme of free summer holiday events with some craft activities and outdoor fun at the visitor centre this week.

Tomorrow (Thursday 20th August) is Pirate day! Fancy dress is strongly encouraged as we head out exploring for treasure. If you can complete the trail and decipher the pirate code word then you'll get the chance to take a selfie with the pirate treasure box. We've also got a 'walk the plank' challenge and a chance to make your own treasure chest. All activities will be available at the Northam Burrows visitor centre between 2pm and 4pm.

Happy Monday! ๐ŸŒ˜

We're having a by looking back at last week's spectacular partial eclipse.

Charlie McAlister, a member of our team, managed to capture these incredible images, showcasing not just the eclipse itself, but also the crowds that gathered to watch, and the birds who definitely seemed to sense something unusual was happening!

We were incredibly fortunate to witness such a fascinating natural event in our beautiful landscape โค๏ธ
