| Young Driver Experience 🚗

Ever wondered what it's like to get behind a wheel? Or perhaps you've already had some driving experience and want the chance to build your confidence?

The Young Driver Experience Half Day Event is a relaxed, friendly opportunity for young people aged 16-30 to have a go at driving in a safe environment.

• No driving license needed
• No previous experience needed
• No pressure - just a chance to have a go

Whether it's your very first time sitting in the driver's seat or you have passed your test and just want to gain more experience, this event is all about getting comfortable behind the wheel, building confidence and gaining knowledge to help keep you safe on the road.

Discussions about the ongoing e-scooter trial took place at a community centre in New Bradwell.

📞 | We have received several reports of members of the public receiving scam phone calls claiming to be from a Bedfordshire Police officer.

Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated and can make a phone number appear genuine, including numbers belonging to trusted organisations such as the police.

In recent reports, a caller purporting to work for the force has asked for victims' bank card details after claiming they have seized stolen bank cards from someone in police custody.

Thankfully, none of these reports has ended in the victim giving over details or cash, but these are just the calls we know about.

🚫 Remember, Bedfordshire Police will NEVER ask you to give your bank details, or withdraw, move or hand over money.

☎️ Don’t assume a phone call is authentic just because the caller knows your name, or references legitimate organisations or banks.

📱 Look out for scam calls, especially if you have elderly or vulnerable family members. If in any doubt, end the call and report to Report Fraud via https://orlo.uk/z498R or 0300 123 2040.

We are reminding the public of the law around e-scooters after one was seized after in Melbourn Road, yesterday (Monday 12 October).

Do you know the law around e-scooters ❓

🛴 It is currently illegal to ride an e-scooter on a public road or space anywhere in . They may only be ridden on private land, with the owner’s permission.
🛴 If you are caught riding an e-scooter on a public highway, park, pavement or cycle lane, it can be seized.
🛴 You can also be reported for driving offences, which could lead to significant penalty points (if you currently hold a driving licence) and a fine.
🛴 If you’re letting your child ride an e-scooter in public, you will be the one found responsible and in turn this could affect your own driving licence.
🛴 While many people may think these scooters are harmless fun, they can pose a real danger, with numerous injuries and even fatalities being reported.
