Due to the positive level of engagement received so far, Essex County Council has decided to extend the survey period of their Community Transport User & Awareness Survey 2026 until 30 October 2026 to provide additional time for residents to participate.
This will allow more time for residents, carers, volunteers, Community Transport users, and those interested in Community Transport services to share their views and experiences.
The survey aims to help us better understand:
• How residents use Community Transport services.
• Levels of awareness of services available locally.
• User experiences and satisfaction.
• Barriers to accessing services.
• Unmet transport needs.
• The wider impact Community Transport has on independence and wellbeing.

ROAD CLOSURE – DOWNHAM ROAD, STOCK

** WORK COMPLETED ** ROAD NO LONGER CLOSED

Outside our Parish but have noticed that Downham Road in Stock will be closed from tomorrow, 22nd September until Friday, 25th September. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while they undertake carriageway patching works at last on the bad stretch between Lower Stock Road and Stock Road. As access through Stock is impossible, the diversion route to Chelmsford is via South Hanningfield and West Hanningfield and joining Stock Road at the Ship. Hopefully they will reopen the road each day when they have finished work although the permit doesn’t state.

Imagine the Chelmsford buses will follow the diversion.

Please do not take your frustration out on the Traffic Management guys, it's not their fault. Remember they have body cams in case things get out of hand.
Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

The Parish Council has been notified by Essex Highways that Church Road in Ramsden Heath will be closed between 20:00 today, Friday 11th September and 01:00 Saturday, 12th September. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while they undertake carriageway patching works on the stretch between Downham Road and Carsey Close. Access to and exit from the White Horse will be via the slip Road. The notification we have implies that they will reopen the road when they have finished work.

No 10 BUS SERVICE TO BILLERICAY

The service has now been running for three weeks and we would appreciate feedback from anybody who has used or tried to use it. Please tell us – good or bad.

Roadworks issues at the Wickford end that have meant it sometimes arrives up to 10 minutes late and we are aware of a couple of missed runs.

Word is getting around and the numbers using the bus are slowly increasing. The promised publicity material to be delivered to every household has continued to be delayed but we are hoping it will arrive over the next couple of weeks once it has been approved. As you can see, we have included a full timetable with this post.

Children (5 to 15) travel free on buses this August scheme operates on all buses in the area. To travel for free, children simply need to board the bus and ask the driver for a child's ticket to their destination. This ensures they are accounted for financially as well as for safety
