We currently have five fire engines plus the ALP in attendance at a house fire in Bingham.

We're urging the public to follow national drone safety rules after we have seen a rise in drones being flown near active emergency scenes.

We have seen an increase in people attending incidents and operating drones in close proximity to emergency responders, prompting a reminder about the Civil Aviation Authority’s Drone Code.

Flying drones close to, or directly over, emergency incidents is strongly discouraged and, in many cases, unlawful. The Drone Code makes clear that unmanned aircraft must not be used near areas where emergency services are working unless specific permission has been granted.

Unauthorised drone activity at incidents can create a significant safety risk and may hinder emergency operations, including:

πŸ‘Ž preventing or delaying the landing of an air ambulance or other emergency aircraft;
πŸ‘Ž interfering with our own operational drone use;
πŸ‘Ž placing responding crews, casualties and the wider public at risk.

Flying a drone in these circumstances may constitute a breach of the Drone Code and may be a prosecutable offence.

Recent prosecutions have demonstrated that enforcement action, including fines and seizure of equipment, can and will be taken where drone use interferes with emergency service operations.

This afternoon we’ve been dealing with a house fire, involving the roof space of a property, on Long Acre, Bingham.

The fire is now almost out and there are no injuries to report. However we do expect the road between Walkers Close and the White Lion Pub will be closed for another hour.

Please avoid the area whilst we finish our work..

Last night crews took part in a water training exercise 🌊 Although we hope to never have to use them, it’s always important to ensure we’re keeping our skills in check ready for whatever emergencies come in.

This weekends whether is looking nice 🌞 so we’d like to remind you of our top tips when around open water:

πŸ’§ Although the weather may be warm and the water looks inviting, it’s always colder than you think - open water can offer cold temperatures, strong currents, and unknown items below the surface

πŸ›Ÿ If you do get in trouble in water then FLOAT to live - lie on your back and float, and shout for help

❌ Never go into the water to help somebody - call 999 first then try and help from the bank. You can use every day items to help reach them and pull them back to safety

Update: Emergency services have now left the scene following a call around 4am to Beeston Marina. The damaged boat is still being carried downstream quickly due to fast-flowing conditions and significant debris in the river, however there was no more action our crews could take.

This incident brings a reminder of the importance of mooring boats correctly.

Boats should be securely and appropriately moored, checked regularly, and suitable for rising water levels and stronger flows. An unsecured vessel can quickly become a hazard to others.

Please continue to stay clear of the river β€” it’s true what we say, you never know what may be hidden beneath the surface.
